As per my understanding of the plot so far the game world clearly works around different factions and many of the choices we decide has no immediate impact but it DOES count and follows closely for the consequences latter whenever the major updates are ready
My confusion is regarding what are the list of clear factions and their association with the region specifically different areas (like fallhaven, brimhaven, vilegard, etc) which frankly I have no clue exactly what's my alliance or support and stands for whom?
There's a popular line like Go with the Shadows or Feygard (or Nor and Brightport)
Is there a easily understandable break-up or list of factions and groups as per different areas and what's the impact in the long run when major cities are ready to play?
We have a new Beta: v0.8.13 ("Troubling Times") !

Maybe the ambiguity is deliberate? But here's my working list:
You can always try to play non-aligned, of course. What did I miss?

Absolutely! This is deliberate. Way too much of a spoiler.
It's kind of like a pop quiz in school. If you're doing all your assignments and your homework then you're not afraid of a pop quiz.
If you want to align yourself with Nor City, then make a conscience effort to side with them whenever possible.

Re: List of various factions and consequences
but at least i should be aware about the reasons behind these npcs talking about feygard, nor, shadows, etc before making the decision.
I see some quests with good context provided in the background but there are also quests with npcs who simply mention names of the faction (and funnily in areas with a different set of faction followers) without throwing a light on why and how are they linked to Nor or Brightport or Feygard. Some dialogues reveal at later stages of quest when you have already completed the task but now get associated with shadows. Even if I had no clue the npc is favouring a particular faction
The fallhaven priest then complains about my choices when I had no clue myself about the npcs alliances.. Lol
Its too vague and random IMO
There should be more clarity on context, warnings about the consequences to ensure andor knows what's the gain or lose before the quest is completed

You do.Osho wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 3:09 am but at least i should be aware about the reasons behind these npcs talking about feygard, nor, shadows, etc before making the decision.
Brightport is a not a faction. It is a town that is aligned with Nor City. So in other words, these are all places like cities or towns. The NPCs are not mentioning them as if they were factionsOsho wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 3:09 am I see some quests with good context provided in the background but there are also quests with npcs who simply mention names of the faction (and funnily in areas with a different set of faction followers) without throwing a light on why and how are they linked to Nor or Brightport or Feygard.
Example please? The in-game dialogues make absolutely no mention to a faction so I don't know what you're referring to here.Osho wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 3:09 am Some dialogues reveal at later stages of quest when you have already completed the task but now get associated with shadows.
The only reason you know about factions or faction scores is because we have mentioned it.
If you at the time that this happens have no clue that the priest is aligned with the Shadow, then that's on you.Osho wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 3:09 am Even if I had no clue the npc is favouring a particular faction

What does this have to do with Andor? You are not Andor. You are his sibling.Osho wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 3:09 am

Again, when you walk into a town and start talking to people, you need to pay attention to what they're saying. Take Vilegard for an example. Do you think those people are aligned with Feygard? Hell no they are not. It's pretty obvious that they're aligned with the Shadow and Nor City.

Re: List of various factions and consequences
I think a big part of the game is discovering the different factions and alignments, just like in real life, so explaining them in advance would ruin it. When the game is complete (I know it will never be "finished"), I'm expecting the devs will some twists.
