I can't say I wasn't warned about the risks of playing with the development version, but I see that the recent set of changes around revenge and/or immunity has broken any previous save files.

It only broke saves made with a development version. Release saves are normally safe.

It's built in. Dev versions can load any save made by any version released on Google play.

The key thing is to never overwrite save games from a release version with ones from a dev version. Ones from a release version can always be loaded. Ones from a dev version are poisoned, even for another dev version.
