Just an idea for a quest. You come across a city where you learn about the tragic story of a princess whos close to death.you meet the king where he begins to tell you that his daughter has been bitten by a poisonous spider with no chance of survival. The only thing that could save her is the mythical shroud of healing if the legend is true.the king begins to tell you the legend of the shroud that can cure any thing once its worn by the infected, the shroud lies in an enchanted forest guarded by the mythical giant Cyclops. If the legend is true and you can slay the Cyclops and retrieve the shroud to save his daughter you will be handsomely rewarded for your services, just an idea

Why not keep it? And where did the princess and king come from? Some lord or priest might fit in more with the storyline. But there should definitely be an option to keep an item like this.

Thanks for the idea, scottdog. This is basically a quest to get an item needed by a third person. We shouldn't introduce new persons for a single quest. Usually it is better to re-use already existing characters. The characters become more interesting because you have a longer history with them and the quest becomes more important because it affects a person that is relevant not just for this quest but also for other aspects of the game.

For example the princess could be Lord Geomyr's daughter. He seems to be a very important person in the land where the game takes place. Rescuing his daughter would make that powerful person your ally. Taking the powerful artifact and letting his daughter die will turn him into an enemy if he finds out.

Like that idea buddy, it gives you the option of being his allie or his enemy, perhaps keep the shroud for yourself so he sends an assassin out to kill you for your treachery. A confrontation down the line where you have no option to battle the assassin !

Ooooh i like this idea! Can the sneaky assassin have a few sneaky friends that come out of the bushes and charge twards you while you are in battle with the main Assassin? Maybe make them far enough out that you will have a round or two of combat before they reach you and surround you (maybe even making it impossible to escape! :shock: )

I do like the idea of an assassin if not in this quest maybe another.during the battle perhaps a message pop up where the assassin gives you the choice of ending the fighting and for a handsome reward he will assassinate the person who hired him to kill you, if you agree you could pay him half now and the rest when the job is finnished.have the assassin bring you back an useful item for your inventory as prove of there demise or something !
