The psychologists say that reading, watching, etc. the same book, video, movie over and over gives them a feeling of security and control because it can be depended on to be the same every time. That is why they do not like it if you try to speed things up by skipping bits. Personally, I drew the line at 5 times through the same book and then insisted on changing books, back when I used to read to my nieces when they were young. I ha\e not seen enough of my grandnieces to get sucked into reading to them, and now videos exist, for which all you young parents should be eternally grateful!
