On a scale of 1-10, I would give this game a replay value of 3 or 4

That's my opinion.
I don't like:
1. Losing time on restarting a new character I'm already happy with anyways
2. Grinding for items that eventually become useless anyways
3. Getting 1 skill point every 4 levels
4. Spending days fighting the same mobs on a back and forth trail only to level 1 time

Just answer this for me...
I am pleased the way I have built my character and I have no desire to make a new character.
I have every item I want. What motivation do I have to continue playing or not to uninstall from boredom?
I ask that question for all the players who have quit from boredom and are not here to tell you this.

I'm not going to judge the game's replay value until it is more complete. For now, I care more about adding to the first time through.

Different people are always going to have different opinions on it anyway, because people are looking for different things. Some people love experimenting with builds, alternate styles of play, etc. Some like exploring the consequences of role playing decisions. Others just want to beat the game, and lose interest after that.

Sorry about the topic drift, but I think discussions of what people are looking for in repeatability terms makes a good separate thread to continue.

Andor's Trail DOES to have replay value. I have 6 games going right now and everyone is different build.
I have a critical hit build, a defensive build, a Blackwater build, a quickstrike build, high ac build...

So don't tell me it has no repeatability!!!
+1 I have too many files to count at this time and i am still not done experimenting to find the best build possible.

So far my main with saved skill points is the best off. ( )

IMHO I'd give Andor's Trail a 9 / 10 for replay value (only loosing points because it's still unfinished at this moment). Creating new players, testing builds, choosing new sides, and searching for items is what keeps me playing.

Dude you got no clue about replayability, seriously... there is barely difference in combat mechanics, quest choices have very, very little effect in gameplay and making 10 builds which in the end (at higher level, like 30+) do not vary much anyways because of the upgrade of base stats... only the start can be different, but even that is very binary: effective leveling up or slow. You can call it fun or highly replayable, I call it easy, boring grinding.

I would have to disagree. The one thing that I don't think that you have taken into consideration is the fact that the game is not finished. In almost every quest the people that you helped will tell you to look them up in another city. These storylines that have not even been told yet, and may be the key thing that might change your mind as far as replayability. I personally have 4 different builds that have each ventured down a different storyline path. I think that the future quests that will happen will expand on the current replayability and who knows there could be major world events that happen that could change your mind.

If you still disagree then you are clearly entitled to your opinion, however, I think that the good majority of forum posters would disagree.

Then again we are the few that love the game enough to come on here often and post.

+1, IMO it is kinda weird to give "stars" to game which is still beta :-)

However IMO this game is one of the best (what i have played, [and it is not even completed yet] ).

Well thystonius pretty much feels the same way I do. The game lacks complexity. If you think about what he is saying you will see he is right.
1. the storyline really does not impact the game strongly enough
2. The skills only supplement the character, in reality, every character does end the same.
If you try to say otherwise, you are fooling yourself.

The true core of the game exists for every character and is still the same no matter how you slice it.
these things only supplement the game but do not drastically alter anything:
Skills, quests, items
none of those really change the game, remove them and you see everyone is playing the same.
True depth comes from complexity and creates replay value.
in the end, every character begins looking the same and you see that all the specialization and game choices was just a mirage and you are reduced to mindless grinding

everyone is entitled to their very opinion, however, to truly grasp an understanding of replay value you must play a game where these categories significantly effect the development of a character and no 2 game experiences will end the same way

I understand your arguments xero, and they are valid. But the game lacking 'complexity' is not a valid point. Any game that is in version 0.6.12 is going to lack some complexity. Just remember we are making judgments on progress not on a completed game.

In relative terms however, the game in its current form does lack complexity. But, with large chunks of cities/maps/stprylines/quest still needing to be added I would advise a 'wait and see' approach to the complexity issue. As for the other argument, the characters can't end the same if the character can't 'end' (I understand you meant something different by that). I assure you that there will be much more diverse character paths before the game is finished.

You are right, for now, and hopefully just for now.

That is why we are here. To point this out so that hopefully the course of the game may steer towards a corrective path rather than simply adding more content. I say corrective but most people on the forums may disagree. People fear what they do not understand. not everyone has the capability to step outside that box. The goal of all of us as players who play this game for FREE should be to contribute to the progress of the game not our personal agendas.
