I think comparison wise HA type character would feel a bit rough on the experience side than LA type, and maybe that's the idea - design wise. The items Knight is wearing are good IMO. Only issue are the penalties that come with it. When I look at the variety of items available for LA type character then I see less penalties and more bonuses for it.
Perhaps the developers should offer the HA type characters more interesting bonuses in terms of conditions, skill enhancements, or resistances to monster attacks that shouldn't be offered to LA type characters.
Even I don't prefer HA each time I plan to start a new game.
HA type roleplaying should be made more attractive and interesting in the game.

Both gloves come with AC penalties between 2 to 4! [...]
The damage bonus from the gloves you are wearing isn't worth to sacrifice AC.
I disagree. Even when I am in a light armor build, I use heavy plated gloves, because the damage bonus is awesome. I think that the + 2-4 damage is better than the -2 AC. (-2AC represents -2/5 lvl, and + 2-4 dmg represents 3lvls). IMO those gloves are the best in the current game

You can do so because with LA, you have great AC, while HA has low AC so bad for HA build.

Defender's helmet
Worn plated gloves
Shadowstalker
Remgard boots
Necklaces and rings don't count

It is indeed great but like every other item a lot depends on the total build of the character.
It also isn't easily available until at a point strong enough to finish the related quest.
I also wear it for the additional boost in damage.
But I remove it and use another glove with dazed condition if my AC isn't strong enough to take on high BC monsters.
I also use the leather gloves of attack to spend points in damage as much as possible. The 2-4 wouldn't make much of a difference if I simply use a weapon with high danage modifier over an already strong base damage of 20+. In this case I would want other slots to be used for boosting AC or BC as much as possible.

I also think that the options for heavy armor need to be expanded. I'll bear that in mind for the next projects.

Now, this I like!

I would increase 0.25 DR per slot and skill point in proficiency.

0.5 would give HA an edge, so if you invest 4 pt of skill on HA you'll get bonus of 2 DR. I dont think that will be overpower since the penalty of AC from HA eqs are quite a lot

0.25 DR per slot and skill point means a maximum bonus of 4 DR.
