How do you know that the BMP drinking, Shadow Following, etc people are not in fact the new group and that Lord G's group isn't the new up and coming religion of the region?

Maybe Lord G is following the original Laws of the land (Old Rules, maybe Elyr followers) and these laws are now being disputed by the Shadow Followers... (A new religion)
