Better Criticals for the Way of the Monk?

With the way of the monk you get your critical chance via clothing and rings, but these don't give any critical multiplier.
Does the skill 'better criticals' apply to the multiplier of 1.75(max) gained by the skill way of the monk?
Or would better crit be a wasted skillpoint for a monk?

In other words: can a critical monk become a powerful fighter? I'd be tempted to play Bruce Lee…

Yes, of course. My question was: lvl 1 'way of the monk' gives you a multiplier of 1.25. Does the skill better criticals have any effect on this multiplier?
The description says +25% for the multiplier given by equipment.
But I don't know any equipment but weapons, that would give you any critical multiplier.
I'd like to go with more than a maximum of 1.75 for a critical monk, but I don't know if that's even possible.

Only weapons have a damage modifier.

OK, but I was talking about / meant the critical multiplier given by the skill way of the monk, which maxes out at 1.75.
Can a monk style build have more than 1.75 critical multiplier and how does one achieve it?
Since it's a monk, weapons are out of question.
