WIth what stats did you manage to get into Sullengard village?

I've setup a Permadeath build which is at lvl 20 now. It has 72 BC, 182 AC, 23-34 DMG and 48 HP.

I want to max my BC using gears first. BWM gears without DW skills would work against me currently because of a very low overall AC.

On AT Directory I see that Sullengard merchants and the thief there has got pretty good items to increase stats. The problem is in getting there.

I've played in Sullengard a lot with another build, so I know that my current build won't even be able to get past the snake which guards the entry to Sullengard map. Forget about reaching the village.

I'm trying to figure out the minimum BC, AC, DMG, HP one can have which enables a player to fight the snakes and insects on the way to Sullengard, and not die there of course (cause it's a PD build).

Do you remember your stats? The kind of stats boosting potions you used there? Which one? Guesses are welcome.

My current gears:

Heavy Skull cap
Hard Leather Armour
Jewel of Fallhaven
Rings of Protector x2
Troublemaker's Gloves
Woodcutter's Boots

Weapons and Shields:
Balanced Steel Sword

At level 71 I have to be careful. If you get into a fight the monsters swarm you, and lay down some very nasty conditions. I have not died around there, but a couple of times it was uncomfortably close, and I have 237HP.

See this got me thinking. I was on level 76 I think with close to 200 BC. And my build also struggled. Now at that time, I already had the best boots (Globetrotter). The gloves, helmet, armour were all Blackwater because the rest of the ones I had were not gonna cut it.

So if a player is able to survive the walk into the Sullengard area and make it there to the village, do they really need the gear that's available in the village?

In other words if a build can make it into Sullengard village, could it be that the gears offered in Sullengard village are not lucrative for that build because something similar or even better is already equipped by the build, and that's what enabled the build to pass Sullengard to begin with?

If that's the case than is it optimal to offer these gears at a place where most players might not have the need to buy it?

The trip to Remgard and that Teksin guy is worth it. The trip to BWM is worth it. To Sullengard, without best or very good gears one might not make it there to begin with.

I'll wait and see if other players can tell what gears and stats they had when they reached Sullengard village.

There are multiple items in Sullengard that are the best items available in their category. Being able to get there to gain them is not necessarily a negation for your need to have them. Getting there is not that difficult. The monsters are very easy to avoid.
Items are top notch because you have to earn them by fighting your way to getting to them. I do not agree that moving them somewhere else so that they're easier to get is the idea that I was going for. Treads of dark glory, for example is something that you need to earn by fighting your way to get them.

No. I'm not joking. That's why I asked the other players to chime in and to see with stats and gears they made it in Sullengard.

And I did make it clear in my question that Sullengard does have pretty good items. My other build bought Thieves' Cloak actually because it was the best armor in the game for my build if I wanted to not use BW gears at some point.

It is just that why would a player see a need to upgrade to the items in Sullengard is what I'm also trying to figure out. It could be that Sullengard map is very new so we don't have many players who just started out a new build and at some point made it into Sullengard (the way you described) and than found the journey be worth it.

I'm just looking for data so that I can decide whether it would ever be worth it for my PD build to go to Sullengard to upgrade gear later on.

I'm not going to let a permadeath build dictate how I build maps and quests. Remember permadeath was something that was added after the game had been around for almost 10 years.
The entire world was built around the concept of falling unconscious and waking up in a bed. Not permanently dying.

Having to go to Sullengard in order to acquire some of the best items in the game is part of the game. Just like having to go to Remgard or the Green Maze to acquire items that are deemed the best available for your level. Having to go to Charwood in order to get your advanced skills. Going to Sullengard is no different.

I kind of agree with Antison there. I haven't played any permadeath character but for my normal one Sullengard is a nice challenge. I am currently at level 68 (see my stats below) and it is possible for me to get there, without it being easy. I see Sullengard as the next challenge after the graveyard king, which I have recently completed.

For me, the gear that's available in this town is not the main reason to go there. For me it's exploring new maps and completing the quests. But I definetely see what you mean charnameLol, the gear that is sold in Sullengard might not be of any use if you made it there.

On the other hand though, I think that always adding better gear and always increasing the maximum stats you can get kind of ruins the fact that you sometimes get to choose which item is the best for you in your current situation. For example choosing a blackwater build like you did is not really an option for me, as I am trying to get no negative effects. If there are new items that exceed the range of the current "best" armor or weapons, these desicions might become obsolete as everybody tries to get only the best item.

Personally I think it's the right way to add a lot of gear that is on the same level, but with different stats. Some with more AC, others with more BC and so on. But of course they have to be accessible for when you need them.

I just saw the whole map for Sullengard on AT Directory box by box after you claimed that it is not that difficult to get there. Aside from certain encounters where a player must deal with one or two Yellow or Green snakes most of the way to Sullengard village can be covered by dealing only with other insects. So one needs to have enough BC and HP and stats boosting potions to get past these monsters.

Now here's the problem. Each King Yellow can do a crit damage of 46 HP easily. Their AC is pretty high and their regular DMG is also bad. If there is a Yellow tooth next to it than add its crit damage of 40 HP and regular damages. That's just one round we are talking about. Queen Sullengard can crit damage 75 HP easily.

Next, Jitterflies are near impossible to kill because of excessively high BC. At least they are not dangerous. But flying tree ant can do crit damage of 45 HP on top of regular damages.

Builds below 200 HP are in danger of getting easily annihilated or be sent back to bed. To get to at least 200 HP using IF skills alone the earliest level would be level 69 with 5 IF skills.

At that level, one might already be a specialist in some fighting style, and the player might be using:

Helm: Dark Protector or BW helmet
Armour: BW armor or, Giant's Hauberk, or Serpent's Hauberk, or Stone Cuirass and so on
Glove: Either some Remgard glove, some glove found in Elm mine, or BW glove
Boot: Globetrotter boots.

So tell me, what real improvements do Sullengard items provide to a player making into Sullengard at level 70 or above?

It is true that Lodar, Remgard, Charwood provides good upgrades but it is also true that when dealing with the monsters there the player doesn't really have a choice to get a good item elsewhere. There are some rusted armours in Vilegard and Brimhaven but they are very costly and have a nasty AC penalty. Gold is hard to come by BTW.

However, when trying to cross Sullengard a player would want to bother with finishing Lodar, Charwood and Remgard first cause they provide faster gear upgrades at a relatively less risk. And once a player chooses to cover those instead of Sullengard, we would be back to the question I asked.

Why go to Sullengard for item upgrades cause you won't might not be able to make it there without some of the best gears in the game to begin with?
