Monk Play through

Hi

I need some tips and guidance (without spoilers) on the monk play style. This is my first time. Besides, the obvious selection under skills, what else is required to play as a monk?

Is there a clear distinction between a monk and other builds?

Are there some concerns regarding the monk that I must keep in mind before spending experience points?

So, the last 2 months I've been trying on a permadeath-no-potions-vegetarian monk. Hardest for me is holding back. I tend to ignore my own HP, which is unhealthy behaviour for a monk and fatal in permadeath.

Today I reached LVL 20 for the first time. So I decided to explore south of Fallhaven.
The Vilegard-quests were easy. The cave with the canides was tough, but I got out again.

And I just found out, that for the next 16 levels I won't have to worry how to spend my skills.
After that I need to decide, which way to go first: concussion, fracture or taunt?

Any hints how much BC is recommended for the way to remgard?

Yes, I just stepped into gargoyle cave and I must say that not getting hit by monsters seems to be a good way to survival.
