I agree too that it should be a 'trader' guy who is not already in the current storyline. Just make up some sort of mysterious background for him, place him in a really hard to access area and voila. You get an awesome NPC which gives a fair few tasks in return for some awesome gear.

I don't use the word 'task' lightly here as it should not be a 'quest' since this guy should just be an optional NPC unless your character is super high level already (it would not be possible to reach him otherwise)

I like the idea of the 'immolation plate armor' thingy.

A few items like that being rare-extraordinary would be nice. One or two legendary items (specifically gloves) would be really nice. Just dont make the gloves have bad stats like GoL (no one uses those >.>)

But to be honest there's already a lot of extraordinary armors in game so any rare and below wouldn't really be enticing unless they have some special effects which makes them really useful in certain situations.
Just play around with the idea or make a thread for new gear or different combination of items to create certain gear.
You might just be able to get enough good ideas to implement stuff.

Glad that the developers understand the problems of players like me who still haven't had the luck in getting RoLS among others.

I still like the crafting part. Perhaps an excellent idea to use the several loot drops to craft various items not available through stores or belong to extraordinary/legendary lists?

This would be a great addition if we can combine different items for special immunity, skills, or boosters related equipments
