The absolute best place to grind for gold, if you are powerful enough, is the cave under Lodar, in the green maze. The creatures there drop runed scepters so fast and they're worth something like 1,800 gold to sell. I have 1,002 of them.

The drop rate of the scepters is 1%, selling price is 1899gp. Therefore average gold per kill is 1899/100=18.99gp. The Ash monsters in Charwood mine drop reinforced black axes. Drop chance is 5%, selling price is 639gp. Therefore average gold per kill is 639/20=31.95gp. It's also easier to get to, and you can kill them faster.

Not entirely accurate. You are forgetting one factor, and that's kills per minute. I kill all creatures under Lodars in one hit, and the enemies are closely clustered/swarming. When i run through the cave in three minutes, I accumulate 23,000 xp per minute. So in short, the numbers seem to favor Charwood, but I'll bet it ultimately depends on your killing power.

Gold Farming:

Lvl 1 - 15: The area just outside of Crossglen/Fallhaven/Wolf Caves (Take out all the Small Rabid Dogs, then later on the foxes, boars, etc)

15+: Flagstone Prison, the NPCs drop loads of gold and items that can be sold off

15+: Gargoyle Caves: Great spot to stop and collect gold/xp/potions while trying to get lucky and landing a Rols.

20+: Iqhan Cave: Great gold drop rate from NPCs and the items they drop sell for a pretty penny too.

??: Lodar's Area: Yes, this might be the best spot for gold collecting but it isn't going to be a ood spot to grind in until you are at a very high level.

In reality as long as you are moving and killing, you should be able to keep a good amount of coins in your pocket at all times. (Plus if your build is strong enough you won't have a big need for gold anyways)

I would have 20-25 bmp and 26-30 iqhan cave.
For green maze I'd suggest 35-49 for the lodar cave and green maze but bring lots of potions

Gargoyle cave NPC are a great source for gold. It's located northeast of Vilegard

Go to the Gargoyle cave, you are not farming for gold, you are farming RoLS, and you will get really lots of gold as "secondary" benefit.

The zombie cave is a good place to get gold around level 15 lots of regular health pots and iron swords at a high drop rate

The blackwater mountain if you're not strong enough for lodar's cave, the auliths drop blackwater equipment at a good rate

You can kill "death wrecker" and "mindless disgrace" in the haunted undead area off of the road to Sullengard. They both have a 5% chance of dropping the death mace, which sells for 4k gold at shops.
