Monster drops....especially rare drops...are just a bit absurd. I get that special items should be rare, but the point of the game isn't grinding. I'm sure this has been proposed at some point, but I'm putting my spin on it.
If a loot drop is 1 in 10000, and there are 2 different monsters that drop it, if I kill 2000 of them, then change the drop rate to 1 in 8000. 4000 monsters, 1 in 6000. I'd cap it at like 1 in 500. But give me credit for the endless hours of grinding.

Re: another brilliant idea from orin
That will never happen, the point of the legendary and extraordinary items is to give the "hardcore" gamer something else to do. In no way, shape, or form are they needed to progress the game. They are very difficult to obtain, and they're stats reflect that. In fact... I wish they would add "otherworldly items" that have a 1:100,000 or 1:50,000 drop rate.
You DO NOT need these items, so let the challenge remain challenging.

Re: another brilliant idea from orin
I really need to create some time to further develop our ideation system and process, so we can send these complains posted as a brilliant idea (I got the sarcasm, but it isn't funny) directly to the bin, where they belong.

Re: another brilliant idea from orin
It is not - it is what we made it. The point is that on a very large user base like 100.000 players there would be approximately 5.000 players owning an extraordinary and 500 players owning a legendary item without any grinding. They got it by just exploring the world of AT.PK17 wrote:That will never happen, the point of the legendary and extraordinary items is to give the "hardcore" gamer something else to do.
I really think that has been the initial idea of these items.

There are a lot of players who get lucky. These items are not necessary to continue the game (or finish it) as other members have pointed out.Samuel wrote:It is not - it is what we made it. There is a skill already in place for members who do not want to spend as much time hunting for these items: MAGIC FINDER
Happy hunting

Re: Lower the drop rate of L + E items
Actually, I have 2 levels of magic finder, and have spent all of levels 17 to 30 killing gargoyles. Lots off gems.. no ring. I get that those of you who are the entrenched Elite won't consider this, but my point is this..... I've killed a LOT of shadow trainers and masters. Each time I kill one, despite having laid waste to their clan for generations, they refuse to cough up a ring. By now you'd think they'd do it just to get me to leave.
I'm just saying that after a set amount of grinding, having the drop rates relax would keep casual gamers more interested. Yes, you don't need these items...but you do Want them. Some gamers feel their characters are "good" when they have lots of neat toys. Some of those gamers don't want to spend 80+ hours with no return on the invested time.
Seriously....if I kill 20k trainers, you'd think they'd get together and say "let's just give him a ring so he'll STOP KILLING US.

Re: Lower the drop rate of L + E items
If someone was to invest 80+ hours into grinding for one of the legendary items they would have something to show for it, a bunch of levels and loot. I got my Rols before killing 2,000 of the Gargoyle Trainers and Master (Which is pretty lucky), but i also had gained around 400-500 Regular Potions of Health, Polished Gems, etc.... these items got me a good chunk of cash when I left.Orin Strongbow wrote:Actually, I have 2 levels of magic finder, and have spent all of levels 17 to 30 killing gargoyles. And in reality, your stats will go up while hunting the ROLS more than what you stats would gain when you get the item in the end.
I totally understand your thoughts on this, my first build i actually doubled the kill count before getting the Rols, but actually a huge majority of the players have reported getting it before hitting the 10k kill count marker.
A few related suggestions:
~Automatic Drop after hitting 10K kills
~A vender for L + E items
~Raising the Respawn rate for NPCs that drop L + E items
~Starting over (W/ L+E items that transfer between files)
Happy hunting!

Re: Lower the drop rate of L + E items
To be fair, if you're a casual gamer, you're not likely to know about the items to begin with, because you probably just play it and might not even visit the forums. My first game, I just did it to kill time between updates and made use of the level ups and extra loot/gold. But if you really want to improve your odds, go with 10 levels of Magic Finder - that's what I did on my first build and I got them fairly quickly.Orin Strongbow wrote:Actually, I have 2 levels of magic finder, and have spent all of levels 17 to 30 killing gargoyles. Re: Lower the drop rate of L + E items
The Ring is worth the wait. On my second build I got a little bored grinding for the RoLS so I would do a few runs then go to Remgard or BWM then come back fresh and have another go. Have given up trying to get the RoL again as that can be real slow. I say please never change the drop rate.

Re: Lower the drop rate of L + E items
If you're impatient, you can get most of the ring's benefits, or at least a close approximation, from store bought items and skills.Piggy the Slayer wrote:The Ring is worth the wait. Shadow Regeneration: Regeneration Skill. The only current advantage from the RoLS is that it's regeneration works during combat turns.
25% AC, 4-7 AD, 6 critical skill, 5% BC:
the villain's ring has the same AC and 3-6 damage and adds a little HP.
the polished ring of backstabbing has 21% AC, 4 AD, and 7 critical skill
or if you like the defense side of it, there's the ring of the protector with 20% AC and 14% BC
And as yo level up more and more, depending on what you put those levels into, a few points difference in AD and AC won't really matter that much.
