Permanent death

Permanent death would add attention to the game. Now you can just save and run around carelessly.
It could be additional setting when starting new game, but I would prefer it affect everyone.

I think when starting a new game you should be able to check "hardcore mode", and you have no save option as it save s automatically each move to prevent reloading.

Now that I have 2 devices I play this on, the save slots are even more important. To switch between my phone and tablet.com I upload my game save to Dropbox from one and then download it to the other. I mostly play on my tablet at home and then move the game to my phone for when I'm on the go.

The other use of game saves is to split off anytime you have to choose a side so you can see what happens with each choice - Vacor or Unzel, Prim or BWM, Feyguard or Nor, etc.

But as long as it's optional, why not, sounds like a good idea.

I think the game is too long for permanet death, having this option I think it might
Make people give up and stop playing the game

Permanent death wont stop you to share save file between devices. When you exit the game save file is created to /data/data/com.gpl.rpg.AndorsTrail/files/savegame, you can copy that file and save scum like nothing hapend.

If you cannot live with your choices, you can start new game or save scum.

I don't really like the idea of permanent death, as others have said the game is so long already, starting over involuntarily would be a serious downer and I might just not play again for a long time. However, death could be made worse. You could lose all your items, or at least all unequipped or just a random selection of items.
I wanted a game, I got an addiction.

hmm.. how about this;
-There can be only one savegame / build. So if you like you can have multible builds but you cannot multible specific build by saving it in another slots.
-If you die... game autosaves instantly

I'm not at all a fan of permanent death being implemented... imagine you have a lvl 100, you die, months worth of work GONE... if you don't level your failure mastery skill, you get a stiff experience penalty, and the closer you are to popping, the more you lose- I like that...

Its a lot easier to share save files now when they go into a folder called Andor's Trail.

As for the choices, its more a matter of curiosity and wanting to see where the story leads. As far as "living with my choices" - its just a game, and supposed to be fun, and not too much like real life (just my opinion of course).

Like I already said, for those who want it, it sounds like a good idea if its an option left up to each player. Why change it in a way that makes it less fun for others? Some of us like to play multiple builds at the same time to try out different paths or skills, but still keep our "main" game.

Don't like that either. I've accidentally pressed over the wrong save before and overwrote a different build, which is why I now keep 2 saves per game, so I have a backup and its helped out since then.

Hopefully, since Oskar was nice enough to add unlimited save slots, he'll keep letting us use them how we want and not place restrictions.

I've noticed a lot of suggestions over the years where someone wants to restrict how the game is played to how they think it should be. If someone wants "permanent death" they can impose it on themselves by starting over anytime their character dies, and even delete the save files.
