I know the first and some in the mix of the second. While such old tracks are slow too they were extreme for their day, which is what I like about them. I tend to gravitate more towards the Dutch sounds though, not very familiar with stuff from the UK (though familiar enough to reconize it). If we're going for tracks from that age I drift more towards:

Don't know about hardstyle, not really into it, but for Gabber, hell yeah! One of our best export products , did you know "gabber" means something like "friend" or "mate"? As the story goes there was this club in Rotterdam, called Parkzicht where they started pitching up tracks and going harder and harder. DJ Rob, the producer of the 2nd track, was was actually a resident DJ at that club at the time and it's one of his first productions. This led to Rotterdam Records and shortly after the Amsterdam based counterpart Mokum Records (Mokum being an old name for Amsterdam). However there's also a lot of German influence right from the start, Mescalium United's We Have Arrived (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL5xh-wt3Vc) is generally considered one of the first (if not the first) ever hardcore tracks released and it's created by Marc Trauner a German known under various aliasses, most famously Marc Acardipane. He was co-founder of Planet Core Productions in Frankfurt, another one of the early labels.

It's a bit hard to pinpoint the exact start, but it's generally assumed to have taken place in The Netherlands.
