Vacor in Fallhaven

After finishing the part of the quest to collect the rift spell and returning it, it begins the next part of the quest as normal to go kill so-and-so.
My character, who's not into killing people for petty revenge, chooses to leave the conversation.

Unfortunately, this neither updates my quest log saying the quest is finished, nor can I go back into the conversation and accept the new part of the quest, so that quest is forever incompletable now, which is annoying for people like me that do every quest, or at least turn down the quests that my characters moral code don't agree with.

So is there a way to fix this, or at least put an alternate script in for Vacor where he just yells at you for not helping while saying the quest was completed?

IMO you cannot finish this quest without killing somebody

Tried talking to Unzel, he doesn't say anything about Vacor, just the brief intro he normally does, and Vacor is still looping giving me the rift quest and asking if I've finished it yet. I wouldn't even mind the quest just resetting at this point, so long as there was some kind of forward progress.
