snake cave and venomous dagger

I have been "mining" both gold and meat in the snake cave south of Crossglen for some time, and recently found Kim's comment on the other forum page about killing all 4 forest snakes and the snakes going up to the basilisks and beyond, but don't kill any Snake Servants. Then someone said the venomous dagger is dropped by the snake master in the Cave of Serpents.
The only snakes I have gotten in the cave S of Crossglen are (young or not) cave snakes, even after killing all 4 forest snakes. I even tried killing the 3 ants before the 4 forest snakes so that the string of snake killings was not broken by ant killings. I would love some higher level snakes to get gold faster! And is this the right place for the venomous dagger or is there another Cave of Serpents somewhere I haven't found yet? If it is the right place, what am I doing wrong to get only cave snakes? Do you know how long it takes to buy two +6 damage rings killing only cave snakes (plus a couple of side trips to kill skeletons and collect bones.)

The snake master is in the cave behind all the servants. I think the strategy is to get only meat, since snake servants do not drop meat.

The strategy I posted as a comment on the project wiki page for experience, is only to collect gold (or meat should you opt not to sell) quick and safely meaning you can begin at a low level where you need lots gold the most. This was before the gargoyle trainers and the increased spawn rate.
I have not run the numbers against the trainers, so the snake cave may still be the best place for gold farming.

The snake master drops the venomous dagger, whom is at the end of the cave. The dagger is the 1st or 2nd best weapon, depending on various factors.

I am level 14 and have completed as much as possible of the current game version - easily too, once I got the gold amount I needed. No ring of lesser shadow yet, and I will not be farming for it. Oh, I died a lot when first learning the game so level 14 isnt the lowest level you can complete the game in - in case any were wondering.

I cannot attack the snake master, i reach the end of the cave after several snake and snake servant but when i go to attack the master
he said something and i can only "leave", the "next" button is grayed

it is a bug or i miss something?

My problem is the same of Giulio: he said something and i can only "leave", the "avanti" button is grayed!!!!!! I killed the 4 forest snakes and all the snakes and basilisks in the cavern, but don't kill any Snake Servants!!!!!!! Also I killed the 3 ants before the 4 forest snakes! But the situation not Change!

Any suggestion?
