Whats going on with some of the relevant forum topics getting spam posted in it, and the spammed topics?
As the most Spam is created by bots we should introduce a custom captcha when someone tries to register a new player. (IMO the most effective way to prevent spam)kabbie1882 wrote:This happens with almost every forum.
We try to get to them as fast as we can. I boot about 6 a day myself.

For example we could add a question like: What game is this forum for?
If the answer does not contain "andor" or "trail" the registration process is aborted.
I've found that custom questions are the best way to keep out the spambots.Samuel wrote:As the most Spam is created by bots we should introduce a custom captcha when someone tries to register a new player. Well those suggestions would help if we weren't running the most recent phpBB version (3.0.8), and there is also a register captcha that uses recaptcha.taws34 wrote:Would it be possible to update the forum to a more recent phpbb version? There are also add-ons that support Captcha.
That would help
You did not add a custom question, do you?Samuel wrote:As the most Spam is created by bots we should introduce a custom captcha when someone tries to register a new player. (IMO the most effective way to prevent spam)

Check again, there should be a custom profile field asking for your OS version.Samuel wrote:You did not add a custom question, do you?Samuel wrote:As the most Spam is created by bots we should introduce a custom captcha when someone tries to register a new player.
