Bug - lost 5 levels

Hello, I swiped home and left the game open in the background, then closed it from that standby status. When I opened the game anew and loaded my progress, I had lost 5 levels. I was level 28 and am now level 23. It does seem to have loaded an old save or something, as I don't have the potions and stuff I had at 28 so it's not ONLY the experience that changed. I exited the game and opened it again, and on the load game page I see two saves at levels 23 and 21.

I have closed the game this way before without issue.

I'm playing on a Pixel 6Pro on Android 15. Andor's Trail is installed from F-Droid and I'm at version 0.8.12.1 with no updates available.

Well, that's easy to explain and no bug:
Instead of loading a saved (and old) progress you should have just tapped the "continue current game" button.

It's always a good habit to save before you exit for no other reason than it prevents you from doing things like this and if you have multiple characters, it prevents you from losing the progress of the current character before you quickly load the second character without thinking about the progress of the first character.

I only ever use the Continue button! I'm guessing it auto saves in the first slot, and maybe I accidentally loaded the second slot and then autosaved over the first?

I only have one character, but maybe I made a few levels of progress without saving before it closed. I don't know when it autosaves, if ever. I've only manually saved a few times.

Autosave isn't available in Andor's Trail...

Of course it autosaves, but only 1 version and in background:
Each time you have a dialogue or use the menu, it saves the version. So when you just close the game, you can continue on the next day.

This autosave works in background, you won't ever see it in your savegame list.

You don't have to 'load your progress', you have to 'continue'.

Thanks, Nut! Excellent nuance you pointed out 👍
