Are One-Handed Sword and Dagger Proficiency and Specialisation: Dual Wield worth investing in???

I recently encountered a problem in the suitability of some proficiency skills. I normally play dual wield with a combination of Assassin's Blade and Dagger of Shadow Priests. Assassin's Blade has the highest Damage among all the daggers while Dagger of The Shadow Priests has the most critical chance. Now here is the problem:
The reason Assassin's Blade is good is because of its "Heightened Senses" buff, otherwise it has low Damage, 10 AC 0 BC, and 3 Crit. Dagger of Shadow Priests has 20 AC, 0 BC and 20 Crit. Combined it is 30 AC, 0 BC and 23 Crit. Dagger Proficiency for each Level will grant 30% of AC and BC and 10% of Crit which will be 10 AC and 2.3 Crit. But the skill Weapon Accuracy alone gives 12 AC per Level and 2.3 Crit is negligible. This makes putting Points in Dagger Proficiency Pointless(no pun intended but it's a good one). Also with this combination of daggers even Specialisation: Dual Wield feels boring as all we get is 15 AC. It may be useful of we replace Assassin's Blade with some other weapons like Lifetaker but they can't compare to Assassin's Blade in terms of Damage.

You're simply running into situations where the items that you're using don't get supplemented or complimented by the skills. This happens a lot. Things like the axe proficiency skill is also like this.
On the flip side, something like the blackwater dagger benefits from the skills tremendously.

Yes but all Blackwater set items come with a crazy penalty of higher Attack Cost and no Criticals . And a Critical focused build will always need DoSP. There are few choices among daggers you can pair with it. The Critical-Focused-Quick-Attacking-Path a.k.a. The Assassin's Way feels doomed.

In Fact I really love the Blackwater set items for a steady damage or for defense. But thanks. I'll try Blackwater weapons for a change.
Thank You Antison.

You should drop Assassin's Blade, if you have a duel wield build like me the answer is easy, Lifetaker or BSS (Balanced Steel Sword) it allows you better damage, higher attack chance, and makes you feel like the Abyss Watchers from Dark souls and of course lets you keep the goodies of crits. I'm level 46 and with a crit I can do more than 100 damage which with four attacks that almost always land it gets rather powerful, my crit chance is around 29 with a multiplier of 3. And no you don't have to be a glass canon, I also have 130 HP with 4 DR and 122 block chance. Only duel wield skill is good to invest in, a specific weapon proficiency is not worth it unless you absolutely certain that you will be forever using those weapon throughout your game play.

Antison was right. For enemies immune to critical Blackwater Iron Longsword and Blackwater Iron Sword combo rocks. With 105 AC combined One Handed Sword Proficiency ups it to 200 AC and add Dual Wield Specialisation you get 252 AC total! Also this combo has a Damage Modifier of 122% and Combined Damage of 7-16.
As for Critical Set, not many can replace Assassin's Blade. I also thought of choosing Lifetaker but it has less damage and only 17 AC more and 13 Crit less than Assassin's Blade.
I am Level 43, in my Critical Set I have 107 HP, 288 AC, 35 - 40 DMG, Crit 57, ECC 28%, Crit Multiplier 3X, 44 BC and 4 DR.
In my Non-Critical Set I have 115 HP, 397 AC, 39 - 57 DMG, 44 BC and 4 DR.
I have these skills:
Increased Fortitude Level 3
Combat Speed Level 2
Fighting Style Dual Wield Level 2
Evasion Level 1
My Proficiency Skills are:
One-Handed Sword Proficiency Level 3
Dagger Proficiency Level 1
Heavy Armor Proficiency Level 1
As for being a glass cannon, all I need is Evasion Level 4 and then I'll kill them all before they kill me.
Also I'll spend my Level 51 to Level 72 on Block Chance and get Barkskin Level 5.

Those are some great stats, with that strength only enemies from Sullenguard and some other enemies would pose a threat to you, your current BC is surprisingly low and with your current hp you're still a glass canon to the snakes in Sullenguard, but if you have 4 attacks and land them all you should be just fine, as for your level plan it's good but by the time you're level 70 or even 50 almost all enemies won't stand a chance against you with your current build.
I like that you have a back up plan build for crit immune enemies, but with my build I don't really need to swap weapons, just attacking in a round does gets me the win depending on the number of enemies I'm facing.
