Elm Mine - Henchman Hold Up!

So I'm stuck. Got into elm mine... Killing weird dried kazarite thingies... This guard on a ledge keeps waving me away from going forward and if I go talk to him he says no don't leave come here! And then he won't say anything else except be quiet. I already saw the growing crystal message. He won't let me leave! Help!

Are you 100% sure that the crystals are finished growing?

Well I've gone through the "what?" Dialogue 100x and I've tried clicking on the crystals just as much... Not sure what else can be done....
