So at the start of my new save, I accidentally picked the gamemode with unlimited lives but only 1 save and I'm scared of messing it up by not remembering this. It's my second save, and my first decent one and I feel like I progressed too far at this point (I'm at Blackwater Cave) to consider making a new file.
The whole point of your savefile being deleted after you go back to the game scares me... a lot.

I do not know. Maybe someone who knows how to modify save files in a hex editor can help?
