I wanted to check if the worldmap folder that you have found is really the one that is used in the game. So don't copy any files into it, just start the game with the (then created) empty worldmap folder and try if you still get all the maps displayed.
(It's just to check if the game reads from another folder. That might be possible because we had to change the save logic some releases ago)

Yeah, new maps are displayed if I visit the area, as though I was visiting for the first time. But do I have to go through, for example, the entire ratdom area again to get a complete map? Or can I edit the html file and copy and paste the images over to get a world map that works without having to scour through the entire world manually?

I don't think this html file is the source of your problem.

Before you renamed the folder you have got the old maps displayed, but no new ones,
and now you only see new maps but not the old ones?

Yes. The old map tiles are in the old folder. The new folder does not have them, so I only see the new map tiles that I get whenever I change locations. I do not see Fallheim for example, but I could get the maps for it if I go there and go to every room and so on.

Good so far.
Now copy EVERY png files from your renamed worldmap folder to the current worldmap folder.
These are the base for the displayed map.

Then try if they are displayed.
(The html file is always recreated)

Okay, I will try that.

Since I have been playing, my world map is bigger now and contains portions of Stoutford. So some of the files in the old world map folder will be the same/duplicate as in the new world map folder. Should I overwrite them or copy them in as duplicates?


There are other html files in the old world map folder, like worldmap_arulircave.html. Should I leave those alone, without copying them over?

Overwrite or ignore any existing png.
Either they have a different ending, or the image is identic.
The existing html are not important here.

Technically every map that is listed in the savegame file has an 8 char ending. These are written to the worldmap html file and then this html is called.
Every png file that is found will be displayed.

E.g. If you have a mywildcave_aceda234.png in your savegame,
AND the mywildcave_aceda234.png exist in your wordmap folder,
then it is displayed in the map.
