We can't make monsters stronger in a replay game, so you have to loose your XP, skills, items. Everything would have to be resetted.
Just a little thing could be transferred into the new life, otherwise you would start overpowered.

Here we would have to find the right thing. Shall we allow to choose 1 item from the old life to be given at the start? (No quest item of course) Or a skill?
And in second replay 2 items or skill, and so on.
Other ideas?
It has to be balanced. Not as strong as you might wish, but nevertheless worth enough to do it.

Question is, could you start your replay whenever you choose to? Since there is no end of the game (yet), it would be hard to determine when a player is "done" with the game so he can start over.

We do not even know yet how the replay would look like and what is saved of your old to the new life.
It can't be e.g. experience nor skills nor every item, because then the monsters won't be a challenge at all and it would be boring.
But I expect that a replay would be only possible after completion of the main quest. So not too soon...

I would think that a player who wants to do this could modify the new save file to add items from their old file but keep the stats at the beginning. This would require time and technical expertise and learning how to do it. But it would be possible for a determined person who is willing to learn, I think.

I am more interested about whether a feature could be made to export a save file's stats and complete item list to a spreadsheet file. This would be useful as a way for people to show their current progress, and it would also make the process I outlined above perhaps slightly less time consuming. The player would not have to manually write down every item they have in order to remember it for a transfer to the new character.

Come to think of it...

Such a feature might also be useful for game updates that change old content. For example, it is hard for developers to make modifications to old quests that ensure compatibility with all save files. Changing a quest might be okay for people who have not started a quest and for people who have finished a quest, but it could mess up people who are currently doing the quest that would be changed. But if it is easy to export someone's stats, item list, quest list, map tiles unlocked, etc, to a spreadsheet or another format, then maybe this would be easier. Then, when the game is updated, instead of transferring the save file from an earlier game version to the current game version, a new save file can be created with all the characteristics of the old save file except for player location or current quest progress. The player could then be spawned into crossglen on the new save file, with an otherwise identical character to the old save file.

There might be problems with that approach as well... idk.

You would need to know the exact internal details of the quests. Honestly that's not really possible, and we would get flooded wirh asks for help how to do it here or there, and how to fix a broken import.
So no, we won't support such an editable export/import.
