How come I haven't received a Gem of Warmth yet?
The drop rate is 1/1000
Because it's just a drop rate. ie a percentage. A chance rate.
Just because you've killed a thousand doesn't mean it guarantees that you get one. Every single kill has one out of a thousand chance. In theory you could be there forever looking for one.

Good news is the gem of warmth has absolutely no purpose or use.
you're right: it's a probability; but the value of probability must serve some purpose. if I have a 1 in 1000 chance of getting the gem, I also have a 1 in 1000 chance of not getting it. Let me explain better: the probability 1:1000 indicates that if I kill 1000 enemies I will probably get 1 gem; it is not certain but very probable: if I calculate the probability of not obtaining the gem with 1000 kills I obtain, in this case too, 1 probability of not obtaining the gem with 1000 kills. this means that this event is very unlikely to happen but not impossible... I managed to kill the same enemy 2000 times and I still haven't received the gem. the probability that this event could happen is 1 in 2000: it is almost more likely than winning a lottery.

Statistic is working a little bit different:

If your chance of getting one per kill is 1:1000, then your chance of getting none is 999:1000

To get none after 1000 (or 2000) kills is the product, so it is
0.999 ^ 1000 = 37% (or 0.999 ^ 2000 = 14%)

So getting no item after 2000 kills happens to about 1 of 6 players, which is much more often than you might have thought.

Imho I agree - and disagree at the same time.
If someone invest 2 or 3 MF at low level and earnes the RoLS and/or the RoL"early" in the game, the overall benefit from those items is a game changer.
Having poor luck or no patience to go for this items, MF are wasted.

On the other hand, after all, pue matematic in the form of AC, BC, HP and DP values decides, against which monsters a Char can win or loose.
Luckily calculation is done in the background and gameplay decides, if and how we all enjoy playing AT.

Question: is an update of the item list in the first posting planned?
Sure I can look at the AT Directory, but this thread is my first stop for the matter over 10?, 12? years and "bad habits never change"
