Also, what is a walkable layer, and how does it differ from ground.
I am making a canyon as part of the ground layer, but do not want the character to be able to walk across/on it.

The walkable layer is where the player is not able to walk. The tutorial explains that. Ground layer in the first layer, all other layers appear above it, including the player and NPC's

Ok thanks
Strange they call it the 'walkable' layer, not the 'unwalkable'
So, the character can't walk on objects, or above layers as well?
Just to make sure.

Characters can walk on anything (accessible) that hasnt been covered by the 'walkable' layer (you use the pink tile). The character will walk above all layers apart from the 'above' layer, that will overlap the player. The tutorial explains it better

The following 4 visible layers can be used in this order:
Top
Above
Objects
Ground

The hero and NPC's are displayed above Objects+Ground, but below Top+Above

'Top' had been added later and is not listed in every map or docu.

Hi,
Which one looks more like a canyon to yall?
I'm having trouble getting the depth effect (shadows maybe?)
This one:

The second one. To add more depth, zig-zag it. I would have the top half higher than the lower half, for gameplay purposes (you would be able to see more and make it look tall and imposing at the same time)

Canyon is an awesome idea, the bigger the better i say

Sorry, I’m not sure I follow your idea of ‘zigzagging.’
Could you maybe create a visual drawing or something of that sort?
Thanks for the feedback, though.
