I noticed a similar miscalculation while grinding in the Prim-Stoutford train tunnel

Young Gornaud is calculated as easy
Gornaud is calculated as very easy

Gornaud have +15 health, +2 damage resistance, and higher chance of giving dazed.

What version of the game are you running? An improvement in the algorithm was recently made, but if more are needed, we'd like to know.

Actor conditions are ignored in the calculation of how difficult a monster is. There's no good way to include them in the calculation.

But even without the higher actor condition chance, the other stats are already higher, so it should score as harder, all else being equal.

However, what factors on your side are taken into account? For example, if you have reduced HP entering a second fight, does that increase the difficulty score of your second opponent, or does it just depend on your max HP? Certainly if you change to less powerful equipment between fights, you could see a higher difficulty score than if you didn't. Etc.

Mathbrain, is there anything that changed between the two fights that might account for a weaker monster scoring as more difficult?

That is an excellent question!

I was running 0.7.8

I was near the beds near the caved in train rails. I could fight a Young Gornaud, it would say "Easy", then I'd could switch to a Gornaud, and it would say "Very Easy".

I will return to return results after updating to 0.7.10, however I'll have leveled up many times by then, so they'll likely both be "Very Easy"

Well, even if you can't retest the exact situation, please let us know if you spot an irregularity like that again.
