Problem with Android Studio

Hi developers,
several weeks ago I tried ATCS - really a nice program! I learned a bit about the internals of map making, and tried my own.
Then of course I wanted to walk through it, so I inserted it to my old PC with Android Studio and AT already set up.
This worked (after some trying...)
Unfortunately I can't use this PC, so I installed Android Studio and the AT source on a brand new Notebook.
But all I get is "failed to load dx.jar"
Google only found comments like "deinstall and reinstall". This I had done already on another PC many times, spent frustrating hours with no result.
I don't want to mess up this fresh PC. Please tell me that it is just a simple Setting to Change!
I have Android Studio 2.3.3
Project Structure:
Project SDK 1.8.0_112release
Project language Level SDK-Default (8)
Platform Settings: SDK 1.8
Settings: Java-Compiler: ProjectBytecodeVersion 1.8
virtual device: Nexus 5x with Nougat
and the source I cloned from

I don't know android studio, but my first guess would be that you're lacking some packages from the android SDK Manager. Stuff like sdk-tools, platform-tools and SDK for the latest API target.

If you go to "Tools", "Android", "SDK Manager", Does it show that you have at least one version of the SDK installed?

You must have the one matching the target API version mentioned in the AT source.

Maybe I misunderstand what you mean, but ...
The files says target=android-21, but I have only Android 6.0 (23) installed, and everything works.

yes
SDK Platforms:
Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) Android SDK Platform 25.3, Sources for Android 25.1
Android 7.0 (Nougat) Google APIs 24.1, Google Play Intel x86 Atom System Image 24.13
SDK-Tools:
Android SDK Build-Tools 26, Android SDK Platform-Tools 26.0.0, Android SDK Tools 26.0.2
Support Repository: Android Support Repository 47.0.0, Google repository 55
is it a wrong Version? too new maybe?

So I must use Lollipop (21) as SDK platform instead?
Must I deselect the Nougat before, or can I just add it?

Ha! Now it is working!
Probably a combinatition
As SDK platform I have now 25+21 installed,
Project SDK 25 (Java 1.8)
Project language Level 6
But only after I deinstalled SDK Platform 26 it worked: Mikhail greeted me: "Oh good, you are awake" How Fitting!
Thanks for your tipps!
After all those grinding hours AndroidStudio finally dropped not a RolS but an AndorsTrail

I forgot to ask. where did you put them? You have to be careful about this, because there are quite a few unpublished maps, and we don't want anyone to waste work
