There is an ancient dwarf fortress deep in a volcano.
The player learns about it from the old man in fallhaven and soon from lodar that Andor mentioned something the fortress which is called stoneholm. But the location is unknown.
The trip to the fortress is a very long and dangerous path up the volcano and into the volcano with the use of an elven flyer. The fortress is in a dwarf-made cavern in the mountain.
The fortress is still inhabited by the ancient dwarves who are hostile to the player.
Upon reaching the throne room, the player will meet the dwarf wizard known as Yzartromo.
He informs the player that their king is on his way to negotiate with a giant who is trying to move the volcano.
Soon,it is learned that the giant is the volcano,or rather the volcano as his back.
On the way,the player meets the king Stubble who has already talked to the giant but the giant will only continue to sleep and not move house if someone beats him in an arms wrestling match. To do so,you need to drink a potion which grants strength of any sort before challenging the giant or you will automatically lose.
After winning, you learn that Andor woke the giant up in order to gain entrance to another place???.
PS I want more dwarves i love them!

I like the general idea but, I am not sure about the elven flying machine why would Dwarves have an elven flying machine?
The only other thing that I would change/rearrange is the volcano on his back......
Seriously now our hero is embarking on a quest to prevent or eliminate Backne

(back acne)!
I think with a little more refinement this could turn out to be a really cool quest especially with Magma filled caves, lots of Fire monsters, and I could see where it could have a real Dragon's Age feel to it.
But please no backne.

I was thinking the elven flyer from vileguard, the people there behave like elves, secretive and belonging in their group.
By the way,I wanted this quest to be a key part of the main story,I thought that beating a volcano giant in an arm wrestling match would be unforgettable(at least in andor trail) and explain that Andor woke the giant up to gain access to another location meaning that there is a hidden location somewhere on the way thus extending the story.I feel that there should be plenty of secrets in the area and I WANT STUBBLE TO BE ANDOR FRIEND AND THUS A MAIN CHARACTER COS WELL STUBBLE IS MY FAVOURITE DND CHARACTHER!
And I want the backacne it was meant to be the joke

.
On a side note why not make the people of vileguard elves?

There are some fine ideas here, and it would make a fine story, except it doesn't fit Andor's Trail world IMHO.
Elves, dwarves, and flying machine have no place here. Moreover, AT is intended to be rather *dark*, and basing an important part of the main quest on a *joke* is not going to happen. Having a few humorous dialogues here and there, sure, but the quests, events, and consequences are serious. That's what makes AT's scenario look mature. Jokes like this seem fun at first, but they quickly get old except for the very best ones.
The idea of leading the player to think that Andor risked a whole village in order to get to a secret place is great though.
I like the "volcano" thing too, but replacing the "moved because it's actually the back of a giant" by "about to erupt because of some bad guy" would make it more likely to happen.

Why can't they?
Are you really not interested in seeing a new element?
If we can have goblins, demons, frogs, snakes, poisonous plants, why not elves and dwarves?
Is andor's trail really so limited to just a few key concepts so much that adding more humanoid races is not allowed?I think it will add more variety apart from just humans and more humans.
And how is Andor's trail "dark"?If it were dark,I would want to see more gruesome scenes in the storyline. Please explain how it is dark to me,I really don't get.I always thought it was a casual game with a really nice storyline.
By the way,Andor's trail doesn't have too many mechanics to make it a roguelike.
No perma death really ticked me off for a moment before i came to realize it was a RPG.
Hmm OK.You dont want the volcano to be the giant's back because... Of some reason and you want to replace it with a really boring event that has occurred multiple times in other RPGs.How does that make andor trail unique as an application?Atm andor trail is number 1 for the roguelike search. And it has to stay at number 1.
Flyer not accepted?Hm the flyer is a machine?(you got to be joking rite...)the elven flyer is a pair of bird's wings that are enchanted to let the user fly for a short duration. How is it a machine?
I can tell you are really serious about andor trail but so am I and I disagree with your opinion.

In order to reply to your comments, I think it would be best to divide my answers into two categories. I did not create Andor's Trail, and became an active contributor less than a year ago, so my personal opinions on ideas do not necessarily reflect the current or future position of the development team.
Answers based on my personal opinion:
- Dwarves, elves, orcs... they are very common creatures in medieval-fantasy setting, and tend to push towards a Tolkien/D&D world. We have many humanoid creatures in AT (Auleths, Zortaks...), but they are at best organized in a primitive tribe kind of way. Humans are the only full-fledged civilization, having its own internal issues (Feyguard vs Nor City). I would vote against changing that by adding parallel civilization, especially of the usual dwarf/elf/orc type.
- Calling AT a "roguelike" is definitely confusing. It fits the RPG definition best.
- I am no expert in D&D (? I suppose) world, so forgive my ignorance about the "elven flyer". However, fast transportation systems have been suggested many times before, and rejected as many times. AT creator, Oskar, explicitely rejected it (check out
this wiki page. A point-to-point teleporter (or gameplay-equivalent device) can be used in specific locations, for storyline reasons (like in BWM).
- Sure, I agree the "bad guy making the volcano erupt" is a cliché that we should avoid, but it's just what came out of my head in the 10 seconds I took to give a more fitting alternative to the "backne" (I love the word though

) thing.
Answers based on already discussed topics or Oskar's words:
- For the "dark" aspect of the world, as well as the "volcano on the back of a giant" thing, I refer you to
this wiki page, especially this line:
wiki wrote:
The world of Andor’s Trail is a rough place. Prefer blood, dirt, skulls and darkness over rainbow colored unicorns with flowers.
The world should be believable. Maps should look natural.
Maybe "dark" was not the best word to use, but "rough" is pretty much what I meant (non-native English speaker).
It's great that you feel so serious about AT, and want to offer ideas ! We really need help from this community to create more content, and you seem to have good ones. I actually think this whole thread could evolve into something usable given enough work and refinement is put into it. Read the other pages in the
developer section of the wiki to know more about our current guidelines. I sincerely hope that I have not upset you by giving a contradictory opinion, and wish to get more input from you in the future.

OK.So instead, the giant wasn't having backne.Instead, the giant was actually a servant of the dwarves(will address this soon) but was tainted by the shadow(which the dwarves oppose) and once you beat him in the armswrestling match,he is freed.
The dwarves. They are ancient dwarves. So that means that they are different from your average dwarf. We could call them Vikings if you want.
Edit.
There are dwarves in the game.Nocmar the blacksmith mentions them in the lost treasure quest.

Would take a really strong potion to enable a child to arm wrestle a giant. But a Dwarf fortress containing an axe or hammer that is worth using (lower attack cost and similar damage to Gutspitter.) Maybe a great helm or some other delight gained by helping or destroying the Dwarf Clans.

You will have an option to leave the king to armswrestle the giant and since he will automatically fail, the giant will erupt and the fortress will be destroyed so this is a one time decision. If you let the dwarf lose, you will get sweet gear and cash but not be able to access the fortress which will have additional quests.
