Questions on Gear - Best w/o Questing

I am making a "clean" build and trying to find a few pieces of gear to improve. Key thing to consider is I have not done any quests and want to keep it that way (for now) What could I improve without doing any quests? Any advice is always appreciated, thanks!


Quickstrike Dagger (will be using this for a while until I decide to quest)
Hardened Leather Shirt (the dr works great in snake cave)
Villains Ring x2 (non crit build so these are great)
Jewel of Fallhaven (for the extra attack)
Troublemakers Gloves (for ac/bc and the hp)
Snakeskin Boots
Fine Green Hat
Reinforced Wooden Buckler

I think the shield, hat, boots, and perhaps even gloves (I don't crit yet) and armor could all improve without doing any quests? If so can someone point me in the right direction? Ty!

Without completing or even starting any quests, I don't see you doing much much better than what you already have.

..IMO you can find some intresting items like:

-shield in Loneford
-dagger in Ighan cave
-lots of item in Remgard
-and some legendary item perhaps

Remgard requires a quest. Yes, the Iqhan cave is a good source for an improved weapon.

Remgard requires a quest. Yes, the Iqhan cave is a good source for an improved weapon.

True.... but in cace of Remgard you need to start one.. but you do not need to choose your side..

Can the loneford shield be had w/o questing? And if so, who is the merchant?

E: found it, strong wooden tower shield.

Any ideas on helm/boot? Might have the best now.

Yes, the shield can be bought in Loneford...from the same guy that sells the Brutal Club....also, how about Gloves of Life Force? And how about a Jinxed Ring for +1 to dmg resist? And I think the guy in Loneford sells a higher BC helmet.
