I've just read the questmaking tut on AT's site.
I'm writing the Quest Log just now, but I guess that before creating the real JSON data using the editor, I will need the sprites, and discuss some technical points with the dev team. If any dev/experienced questmaker can PM me, I'll give details.

Well, my favorite hobby after having asked a question online is : look for the answer myself

So today, I did a few little things :
- Read the wiki
- Installed Tiled
- Downloaded AT's source code snapshot
- Inspected the existing quests/dialogues/maps
- Read portions of the code to understand how everything is linked togheter
- Used Tiled and created 3 of the 4/5 maps needed.

It wasn't exactly a cakewalk, but it was way easier than I imagined. The tools are excellent, and the documentation, while lacking a full tiled<->JSON interface reference, is crystal clear and helpful.
I'm still a bit confused about the content editor, especially on the "conditional expressions" in the dialogues, but it looks like a powerful yet not-that-complicated tool. Many Kudos to those who developped it.

I guess all I need now is some artist to draw the sprites I miss (I'd really like to avoid inflicting my version of "art" to AT players), one or two more days of work (last one or two maps, include all I've written in the correct form in the content editor), and I'll be ready to advance to the review/beg-for-features/debug/test phase !

Edit : Allright, I got it. No one draws these sprites especially for AT. Have to pick from the used tilesets. Luckily, I found almost all I needed

we can make tiles for you to use, but they have to be approved...
[so they can be added to the directory for public use]

i have some tiles in the game - and others are drawing some as well!
i just haven't had the time recently to respond to everything that i have wanted to...

what exactly would you like?

i am still working on a female version of our hero,
it may never be used - but it's fun & we'll never know if we don't try!

I've modified some of the existing sprites.
I've attached them to this post, so you can tell me if they can be included.

For the mushrooms, it simply changing the "hue" of the whole image using gimp. Original sprite is in monsters_ld2.png

The old man comes in the next post (3 attachments max).

For the old man, I mirrored it, removed the shadow, and added a partially transparent dark green layer on top of the pixels I wanted to have color-changed. The result is not too bad, but could be better. The original is in monsters_rltiles1.png

Tell me what you think of them !

I don't want to spoil. It's too early for that.
But, if you accept, I will tease you by saying that......
they aren't friendly
Disclaimer : No drugs have been involved in the making of this quest. No mushrooms have been harmed so far either. The mental well-being of the author is still being studied by competent authorities.
