In the us the supreme court shot down prop 8 which allows same sex marriage in California to be legal.
My quest is how can the government even say what the church can or can't do? Don't we have the separation of church and state?
Don't get me wrong I really don't care if gays marry or not.

Dito, but I will ad this... "seperation of church and state" really depends on how you choose to define seperation, church, and state. It is a debate that has lasted centuries and most likely will last at least a few more. It is also a debate that gets most people upset pretty quickly.

Well in the us constitution it states we have the right to freedom RELIGION and speach. With that said, can't the church argue that forcing them to marry a.gay couple is against there religion? It be like telling a Muslim to take off his turbin.
On the other side, with gays now being allowed to marry it will turn out to be a big cash cow for the state.
I GOT IT PROP 1 FOR AT WE WANNA HAVE THE RIGHT TO USE BONEMEAL POTIONS AGAIN!!!!! WITHOUT YOU GAURDS THROWING ME IN JAIL FOR IT. *hush tone* what they don't know is there's a whole in the back in the cell they throw me in. Its behind the bed.

Its ok.
In California it went to the voters aka prop 8 which stated (in more or less word) California would recognize gay marriage so it was brought to the voters. The outcome was 48% said yes 52% said no. The voters said no now they bring it to the supreme court and they over rule that? Na that's not right. By doing that in my books crosses some of our liberties I think.
