Basic save-file question

I've only played one character so far, but would like to try a second for a bit without losing the first. The first has always been saved in the first slot.

When I select 'new game', the dialog warns that you'll lose thr current character. Does that nuke your saved character entirely? Or can you still Load an old saved character from its slot, assuming you don't overwrite the slot in the meantime?

No you can still load your old saved character from its slot, what it is saying is that when you start a new character, that character takes over the "continue current game" slot.

So make sure the last thing you do before starting a new character is saving your old one to one of the save slots.

Yes, creating a new game will not affect your existing savegames on the four manual slots. Only the quicksave.
If you want to be extra sure, you could even backup your savegame file from the sdcard. It should be in the "andors-trail" directory on the sd card.

Thanks for the replies! That's the behavior I would expect, but the wording in the dialog "you will lose your character" sounds much more dire. Perhaps it should be reworded for the next release?

What should it say? Something like:

"Are you sure? You will lose all progress since your last save?"

Maybe something like that. Part of the confusion is that there is both an autosave and a manual one, and the menus/dialogs don't make that clear.

I would also like to start a 2nd character. However, I can't seem to figure out how to save manually. I see the load button and the 4 slots, but don't know how to save to one of those slots. Can someone point me towards what I need to do to save to those slots?

Thank you.

When you're playing the game, yo hit the menu button, then press save, you just select which save file you want. Yo have to manually touch it.

The game gets a whole lot easier when you use the save option :)

Ahhh - The Menu button... DUH! That should make life in Andor's Tail a little better. Thank you.
