How does the combat system actually work? You have Attack Chance and Block Chance in percentages. But the percentages do not cap at 100%. Instead they can be raised indefinitely (?), say to 300% for example.
How is determined if I miss or not? Does the BC value of my opponent get substracted from my AC%? That would imply that if I have 200% AC nobody with a BC lower than 100% could ever block my hit? Or is there more to it?

(Your AC) - (Target BC) = Effective AC
Calculate Actual AC = 50 * (1 + (2/pi) * ATAN( (Effective AC - 50) / 40 ) )
This function will produce a number between 0 and 100.
If Effective AC is 50, then Actual AC will be 50.
If Effective AC is high (the attacker's chance to hit is higher than the target's block chance), then Actual AC will be near 100.
If Effective AC is low, then Actual AC will be 50.
The actual chance to hit your target (in percent) is Actual AC.
In other words, you can never be above 100% chance to hit or below 50% chance to hit. Your chance to hit suffers diminishing returns so that even at a very high Effective AC your actual chance to hit will only be around 80-90%. Take a look at the graphs created by that formula and you'll see that your best bet is to maintain an Effective AC of between 120% and 200%. More than that won't help you much but less than that will definitely lower your actual attack chance.

What is wrong with your "to hit" calculator?????
Hi guys, nbew to the forum.... but look , change how stuff is LISTED. If I have an attack % of ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY FOUR( sorry abt caps, but , dude, why?) and the monster has a block of 90, (grinding to get my 1st whatever i get from the shadow gargoyle dudes...) DO NOT EXPECT ME TO ACCEPT THREE, YES THREE! , ATTACKS IN A ROW THAT MISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, what's up w/ the game???? I REALLY think you should re-do how you put an attack chance on the game. (coming from an old, crotchety dungeons and dragons dungeon master (vers 1,2 and 3, beyond that they made it complicated just to say they did new stuff)

Related question: How is first attack determined? I know if I just stand there and wait for an enemy to come to me, they will get first attack. The rest is a mystery to me. Do action points have something to do with it?
Actually, I don't fight any more. I let the gods handle it. They love fighting. I get them to fight each other and leave us in peace. It's bad enough when humans start trouble.

Its not a linear progression, the calculations are posted here, but think of it as starting at your attack being 50 greater than the opponents defense, then improving or declining by the square root of the remainder of the diffence.Cthulhu2112 wrote:Hi guys, nbew to the forum... but look , change how stuff is LISTED.
