Food for thought...

There's a lot of foodstuff in the game, I think this can be used to do one of two things:
1. make the game rubbish, by doing what i suggest...or...
2. doing what i suggest, which is:
After a long cycle without eating (potions not allowed), a more mild version of fatigue should set in, this should increase over time if food isn't found. It would be a good way to make players plan more for their excursions. Also, trees may give fruit from time to time, or every now and then you may find mushrooms/nuts in the wild. You could even have a 1% chance of raw meat giving you the poison effect, and an expensive means of cooking it (giving new starters a choice of buying items now, or saving for an item (cooker) that would increase their fortune over time).
anyway, just a couple of thoughts, feel free to shoot me...

BANG BANG! hahahaha kidding.
Some solid ideas here.
I like the idea that eating raw meat has a chance to poison you. My builds live off of a horrible diet of people potions (Bonemeal) and uncooked meats.
No wonder he hasnt gotten any bigger, poor nutrition.

v0.7.0 has differences bewteen eating food & drinking potions...
but it hasn't gotten very detailed yet.
so far, potions heal a big amount - all at once
and, food heals over time - stacking with Regen & Shadow Regen
the first drawback added is Food Poisoning, for raw meat.
[only a 10% but still a possible threat]
at first it heals you, then after a few rounds... it hurts!
[seeing that now meat / food will heal over time]
this is the PERFECT thread to suggest things like fatigue,
and other food / potion related ideas...
Oskar was asking for "Nice potions with Nasty possible side effects"
fatigue also makes me think...
if you don't sleep in a bed for DAYS,
you will start to "feel" it!
more "food for thought"

great post!

I remember seeing a suggestion for a vendor that sells less BM potions that are a bit cheeper but they do come with a chance of getting sick from drinking them. I think that might be a cool adition that would go along with this idea.

WARNING: The consumption of raw or undercooked foods may result in increased risk of food-borne illnesses in certain individuals.
This has been a public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood Pyro

The actor conditions are a nice touch. I am on the fence about the "hunger" portion though. I don't think that is a very engaging game mechanic in a game where there is no perception of time passing.

I agree, the status effects for raw/undercooked food is a great idea.
Not really a fan of the hunger idea.

Yeah, your right. With no day/night cycles, it would be a bit unfair to ask them to eat regularly, and floss...

So, does that mean that skills like pure blood are going to get a LOT more useful?

Because if that's the case, I'm going to invest my skill points ASAP. Two spare skill points down the drain...
