Friends and Foes

I am working on a quest where you can help or betray someone. My idea is to have that character return every now and then for further quests. This led my to a new idea: I think this game lacks something like mentors and antagonists. Until now, most of the characters are only featured in few quests. Once your done with a village, you go on to the next. If someone is an enemy, you kill them quite fast.
I know that we are only at the beginning of the story and neither Feygard nor Nor City are on the map yet, but I think it is time to meet some characters that will return again and again (or maybe reuse some of the established characters). Unzel/Vacor or Mazeg were a good start to connect some points inside the game. I hate to meet endless numbers of characters in a game, because I am not good with names. Plus it makes characters and the world much richer if you engage them in several different quests and show more aspects of a person.

Wow, it's great to have another writer contributing!!!

soon, we will have a better system for the writers...
to make sure we don't write overlapping quests.
I would like to keep working with Kaverin,
and I have started working with Alynndir (cabin by Gargoyle Cave)...
and I'm pretty sure Vacor is spoken for (?) [more later]

we also have quite a few maps that aren't being used,
if you have any specific terrain types you might want...
(or caves & dungeons too...)
we may already have something that would fit your needs.

the handling of dialogue & quest submissions is very loose right now,
but i'm trying to pull things together so we have a more efficient "Writing Team"?

i want to have a thread with something similar to a form...
where members can just copy & fill out the details.
it will have everything we need to finalize the submission.

people who know how can still use the dialogue editor,
but this will be an easier way to get memeber's ideas into the game.

Oskar keeps telling us that the biggest delay between updates was content.
that's usually just new dialogue & quests...
so, the more quests we have submitted & accepted - the faster the next update comes out.

i'll try to make a bigger push towards getting a "Forum Dev./Writer Team" thread thing going...

heh, sorry... like i said - very rough early ideas.
but hey, that's how things get started...
right?

On the subject of enemies..... I don't like the fact that most bosses drop faster than the mobs. Im always expecting this epic encounter but it never happens. Wish they'd get buffed a bit.

Which actually gives me a cool idea for a certain boss in the game right now ... but I won't digress :)

yeah, longer boss battles to take advantage of our new-found ability to cause Actor Conditions to enemies!

if the battle takes about ten rounds,
then causing him Internal Bleeding early has optimal (and intended) impact...

as it stands, an Arulir (a mob near Remgard) could easily beat any boss in the game...
this should be changed, and i am sure it will.
