Weird, but logical... (AP discussion)

With my precious Dagger of the Shadow Priest, I was whacking the shadow priests and masters left and right looking for legendary and extraordinary items. I got tired of chasing gargoyles around the columns, waiting for the priests and masters to respawn, so I decided to shuffle things by fighting without any weapon. Much to my surprise it was easier to kill them with my bare hands, sans my Dagger.
But after thinking about it, it made all the sense in the world. I had 11 AP.
With my Dagger and other equipment, each attack was worth 3 AP, so I could afford 3 attacks each round, with 2 to spare. I was obtaining 18 to 19 hit points each attack and roughly 1 miss per round. As the randomizer would have it I would have a one-round kill every +/-70%.
With my bare hands (2 AP each attack) I could afford 5 attacks per round each, on average with 3 hits with about 17 hp each and roughly with about 2 misses. Methinks I was getting a one-round kill every +/-90%.
On another note....
There has been talk about ranged weapons. It would be awesome if we could use all those freaking stones with a slingshot. I'm just saying......
BTW thanks for the warm welcome fellow trailblazers.
EDIT: I meant trainers and masters

Quickstrike Dagger!!!
you can buy it, but it's moved through updates...
i think it's sold at the Guard Station north of Crossglen.
AP cost: 3
AC: +20%
BC: -20%
as fast as your fists & more accurate, if you dont mind the drop in BC
maybe toss a speed potion in the mix?

I noticed the same when my main character went there equiped with the Quickstrike Dagger. I seemed to have a much easier time than those counting on critical weapons. My secondary character that's more balanced (but still doesn't use critical weapons, I prefer consistency) has a much harder time, even at its current level of 84 it's hard to survive the last room in the caves.

As long as you have the AD to back it up, and are wearing the Jewel of Fallhaven, fighting with your fists or the Quickstrike dagger (for extra AC) definitely has its advantages. Another tip: if you sided with Prim, you can buy speed potions from their potion shop (their best item for sale imo) to add an additional 2AP to get another chance to strike. Having level 2 of the Combat Speed skill helps too, of course.
But there's also different items you can equip to increase your critical hit chance, in addition to the More Criticals skill. If you get to around 50%, you're pretty much guaranteed a critical hit if you strike 3-4 times. There's another topic for that on this board.

I like how everyone has their own strategy with weapons. I was using Flagstone's Pride for quite a while. I love crits. I have a max AP of 12 (through skills upgrades) and I'm wearing the Jewel of Fallhaven, so that brought the AP down to 3, giving me 4 hits with a 37% CC. I was planning on grinding for other weapons like the ELYR or ROL, but since I got the Dagger of the Shadow Priests I don't think I'll use either one. DOSP gives me AD: 17-21 (not too bad), CC: 51%, CM 3. Very often I'll kill gargoyle trainers in 1 hit since my crit hits are between 51 and 63. When I was in the Iqhan cave I fought a bunch of the beasts and Iqhans to level up before I left. I was able to kill several of the beasts in 1 round. Its a pretty sweet little setup. I'm looking forward to finding my next ROLS to have a higher AD though.
I was thinking of buying a different pennant a while ago, but I just don't think it would be worth giving up the 4 hit attack.

Sorry to be a pedant, but I think you mean a pendant, for a pennant is in fact a type of flag.

Rofl, der Hosenwyrm, you seem to be a pundit with a penchant for being pedantic

ok, I'm bored
