What about a game-play wiki?

We already have a development wiki; maybe that could be extended to include game-play information.
There is a LOT of useful information here in the forums - but the nature of the forums makes it kind of tough to find all the good stuff; plus threads get outdated (for example, the "extraordinary items" thread doesn't list "Sword of Shadow's Rage" - at least not on the first page.
I would very much like to have a single page to review this kind of information:
* Extraordinary Items
* Quests
* Map details
* Monster stats
other ideas?

I think that could be very helpful. But as far as Sword of Shadow's Rage, that isn't a extraordinary item, its a boss drop, so if you kill the right guy, the drop rate is 100%. But maybe there should also be a separate list of one-time only items (like that one, the venomous dagger, Vacor's boots, Unzel's boots, Gutherberd's ring, etc).

* Extraordinary Items

* Quests

* Map details

* Monster stats

All this information is easily accessable from the forums, i don't see the point of making yet another page to have to update when the game updates. Its alot of work.

Maybe it *would* be more work...but it would save a LOT of work for people reading through outdated threads.
All IMO, of course

i've been toying with the idea of starting a walk-through / f.a.q.
a lot of projects going now,
but when things slow down...
maybe?

Isn't it possible to fill the wiki from the actual game code? Just feed it the list of items/quests/... from the game source and format it? That would still be some amount of work, but you wouldn't have to keep it up to date, just feed a script the new files on update...

It is actually a extraordinary item, but it isn't something you would have to hunt for.
Also included in this category:
Shadow of the slayer
Barbed Dagger
Flagstone's Pride
& a few others I cant think of off the top of my head
If the information could be updated directly from the forum that would be best since it wouldnt require us to retype out everything a second time. I think the coding for a wiki page would be different so we might have to edit the posts to remove some of the commands like these [ b] ... [/ b]

I was noticing all the boss drops are categorized as Extraordinary items, but maybe that should be changed to "Unique Items" since you can only get them once and the drop rate is 100% if you kill the boss.

It probably is...I haven't looked enough at the code to say for sure. If it's not clearly defined somewhere, there could be quite an issue classifying items just from their details.
Anybody have a clearer idea of what would be required for this?
(Of course, we're talking creature definitions, people definitions, quest definitions...everything, really...except maybe the maps. But with a little tweaking to the map sources, I'm pretty sure we could even automate that.)

i agree the information is right here on the forums but if your in a hurry you dont want to have to go looking for the right thread and hope it has the information your looking for. if not a wiki then atleast a general forum thread or its own category where everything is shown and in order that would be nice.
