AFAIK 1 round is equal to 6 seconds. There are no rounds "used" when you attack.

In Andor's Trail, a round is six seconds. For at least some things, such as respawning, the timer does not run during a fight. I have been suspecting that the "character effect" timer also does not run while fighting, so the more monsters you kill while under the effect, the longer it lasts! If you have a safe (or "safe-ish") corner to hide in, you can wait for the effect to wear off. Intoxicated has both good and bad aspects, so you might want to kill as many as possible while under the effect, but fatigue and chaotic grip are only negative, so I mostly try to avoid fighting while those are active.
I see that Samuel got in ahead of me, and confirms that the timer does not run during a fight.

The game does not count rounds while u are in battle, I know this for sure from when my level 1 ended up with 17 bleeding wound x3 (5 rounds) and I almost mafe it back to town by running from one battle to the next.

As soon as I ran out of fights, I died.

I always thought rounds should count in battle, even if you can complete them in less than 6 seconds. If you're willing to fight with Fatigue, it should help to remove it...

all in-game timers are paused while you are in battle, including the 3 minute respawn timer.

I don't think there has been any plans to change/alter this at this time.

Nice! I didn't know that, i always thought the timer was stopped too. This will shave an additional 30 seconds off of each lap on my grinding. Thanks for the clearifcation Samuel. :)
