how about a "flaming sword"

...that would cause wolves, snakes, etc a chance to drop cooked meat, with its much higher HP restoration?
just something that occured to me, while replenishing my meat supply by making a pass through the wolf den south of fallhaven.
i'd also suggest adding some kosher meat to the game, but i'd only do that tongue-in-cheek; my attempts to keep kosher fail miserably, in nearly all rpgs.

adventuring is hard on a balanced diet. I think my character has lived off of only Meat, potions, & potions made from bones. Which of corse is part of every adventurer's ballanced diet.
Pass the Pepto please....
Intersting ideas, so you would like to see Cooked meat instead of regular meats dropped when using a flaming sword. Hmmmmmm. Very interesting.

Just the idea of a flaming sword is good to begin with, but also having it so hot that it cooks the meat that gets dropped is a great idea! Maybe also add a condition like "on fire" (50% chance on hit) that causes them to lose HP as they go, and another 25% chance for the fire to spread to any monster standing in any adjacent tile.

Yes, very good idea. I have bought exactly one cooked meat, for the acolyte for the catacomb entry permission.
In addition to raw meat and potions, I had some bread and mushrooms very early in the game, but I think the price on those items has now gone up. Not a good diet at all. I hope there are no parasites in any of the raw meat.

I, too, have had nothing but Bonemeal for the past 80+ levels. Good thing it's been all the same day

well, i'm not nearly as advanced level as a lot of the folks i've seen here, (lvl 37), and only 86 HP, so the regular meat still makes up enough HP to get me out of the "red zone".
but as i level up, and the game grows harder, regular meat will be a lot less helpful, as a drop when you're grinding. i've been cautious of using bone meal potions, stockpiling them, since it seems they might become unavailable, if the game takes a factional turn, and i end up being at odds with the shadow temple folks.
(part of the appeal of this game is not knowing what decisions you might regret later. i chose prim, over blackwater, which basically netted me nothing, and am hoping i will someday be glad i did.)
a pleasure to be here, nyktos.

I like the idea of the flaming meat but, not having it spread. To make it interesting, a 50% chance of burning up the meat and any other loot from that battle. It would be the drawback of using a flaming weapon. Having it do this would balance the weapons use.

Did anyone else laugh aloud at this point? (Not making fun of anyone, it's just really funny out of context.)
