A use for rocks

Since theoretically you should get a RoLS every 2500 rocks or so maybe make it so you can trade something like 10,000 rocks for a RoLS. Just for the realky unlucky ones here

But this would actually be the same as getting a RoLS every 2,000 rocks!!!

(because on average you get 5 RoLS for 10,000 rocks)
With this in mind you might say it would be only fair to trade 8,000 rocks for a RoLS.
But this would actually be the same as getting a RoLS every 1,600 rocks!!! (because on average you get 5 RoLS for 8,000 rocks)
With this in mind you might say it would be only fair to trade 6,400 rocks for a RoLS.
But this would actually be the same as getting a RoLS every 1,280 rocks!!! (because on average you get 5 RoLS for 6,400 rocks)
With this in mind you might say it would be only fair to trade 5,120 rocks for a RoLS.
But this would actually be the same as getting a RoLS every 1,024 rocks!!! (because on average you get 5 RoLS for 5,120 rocks)
With this in mind you might say it would be only fair to trade 4,096 rocks for a RoLS.
But this would actually be the same as getting a RoLS every 819.2 rocks!!! (because on average you get 5 RoLS for 4,096 rocks)
With this in mind you might say it would be only fair to trade 3,276.8 rocks for a RoLS. (this is currently not possible as the game doesn't support fractions of items.)

Although that all seems to be a big joke, it's possible to have such bad luck as to never get a RoLS. This would just help to even it out for such unlucky people. It takes an awful lot of kills to end up with that many rocks.
And if there's an issue that other enemies drop rocks either make rocks an exclusive drop (i'm pretty sure no one would mind) or give them a new different item unique to them. The second one possible with all legendary items. And to turn it in have a charater around that area, so in or outside the cave for RoLS, who gives a quest where the only reward would be the item.
It was just a thought to give those who've been in the hunt a light at the end of the tunnel and newer players the promise of an eventual reward if they're knee deep in bad luck

oskar didn't even want people grinding that long for the RoLS
it was just a hold-over task for people waiting for updates
i think magic finder is enough
just some thoughts [although, i might feel differently if i didn't have a Ring]
Samuel needs to share what he's imbibing!!!

I'm sure it wasn't intended to be a place where people kill tens of thousands of monsters trying to get an item. But that's the problem with probabilities in theory 1/10,000 sounds ok, but it's 1/10,000 on every drop. Even if you put 18 sp into magic finder it's still 1/1,000 on each drop. More likely but still possible to never get the item. Keeping it an ultra-rare drop and providing an alternative method to obtain it if very unlucky people have made as much or more of a method as others but been unable to obtain the same results.

i could fight both ways, i dont think the game needs useless programming...
but your point is very vaild - on certain levels
would love to see what others think...
im still forming an opinion.
good post!

I REALLY like this idea. If this was added in i would be more likely to go back to the gargoyle caves and try to get the ROLS again. I have spent my fair share of time in there and have NOTHING but a huge pointless pile of rocks to show for it while some others have spent an hour in the gargoyle caves and have gotten the ring right away.
I feel that if the drop rate is 1/10,000 that when you get to double the measure point (5,000 small rocks) that would be a fair point to make ppl who have truely put in the time and effort to find one happy. It still really erks me to hear that ppl have gotten 2-3 rings in the time that it has 0 still.
People are not ment to be hiding in caves for this long... it does things to them... baaaaad things......

Well said. I want to avoid those bad things. But tonight I get MW3 so that's a start

also you were why I thought of this and it would help balance everything. I've only killed ~1500 gargoyle trainers/masters so far but knowing that i'd eventually get that ring one way or another would make me happy, even if I have to kill 50k gargoyles to get it

Do you guys want some cheese with that whine? You are getting something much more than rocks...XP.
Embrace the challenge. The prize means more when you work hard for it.

I have put in more time than is needed to solve this challange and have gotten nothing. It's easy for you to say you dont care because you already have some. If i had one i wouldn't chastize someone else for giving their opinion by saying that they are whining.
I'm not the only one who has become frusterated while trying to get a ROLS. I feel like hunting for legendary items takes away from the game by forcing you to stay in a small area (with little bad guys and experiance) to try to get something that can potentially never come to you. Instead of allowing them to wonder around and explore the world that oskar has created for us.
If the spawn rate was greater or there were more or the Gargoyle Trainers and Apprentices it would make it alot easier also, since the only way to get one is thru and long and drawn out pause and play style.
