Saved Files

Every time I level-up, I backup the current save file to my phone & use "Adao file Manager" to email it to myself. The problem I have is downloading the file back to my phone because the file extension is lost as my phone's OS forces me to pick an application to use in the download. So when the file is moved back into the Andor's trail folder in the card, the game cannot read the file and the slot becomes useless. My slot 2 is now not a saved option within the game.
Any ideas on how I can bring a backedup file back into my card and have AT be able to load it?
No rush on this. Just a "would like to know".

Have you tried to remove the extension in the file manager?
I use Total Commander for Android:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=32029
There you can remove the extension.
You also can zip files there and send the zipped file to your PC. The zipped file can be easily unzipped by TC again.
Hope it helps.

Samuel,
Thanks for the tip. I will look at the app tonight when the kids are asleep.

Thank You!!!
I saw this and realized what I'm doing won't help much. I've been saving and copying the file to another directory on the
same SD card.

Samuel,
I tried using the total commander and could not find a away to email the saved file to myself without zipping it up first. The problem now is that gmail is not allowing me to download the .zip file (no download button).
I then tried downloading a saved file that I had previously emailed to myself with the adeo manager app, the OS now let's me select the total commander editor during the download process. The file is downloaded with a .htm file extension. I use total commander to remove the file extension and move the file to the AT file on the SD card. So far so good. But now AT shows the game file in the "load" screen, but the button for it us very long and when I click it I get a message saying the file cannot be opened because it was created by an older version of the game.

It works nice here. No need to download the file on the computer.
This is how I did the backup:
1a) in Andors Trail open the menu > save and choose any slot you like
1b) in Total Commander open the folder "sdcard/andors-trail/" and select any savegame(s) you want to backup
1c) choose the pack to archive button (to "sdcard/andors-trail/andors-trail.zip")
1d) open your Android mail app and send a mail to your account with the zip-file "andors-trail.zip" attached.
This is how I restored the backup:
2a) forward the backup-mail with the attachment "andors-trail.zip" to your Android mail app account
2b) save the file to "sdcard/andors-trail/andors-trail.zip"
2c) in Total Commander open the zip file and extract the files (you want to restore) to "sdcard/andors-trail/" (possibly add new trailing numbers to avoid overwriting old savegames)
2d) load the savegames in Andors Trail and have fun.

There is only a message: "it was created by a
newer version of the game".
If you would forward this mail I will look into if I may recover it. (see PM)

From PMs:
tek wrote:Actually, what I was trying this morning was 1d to 2b. Was not doing 2a. What does forwarding the email back to yourself accomplish?
Nothing. Just in case you used 2 different accounts for Android and your desktop.
tek wrote:What do you mean by "Android mail app"?
I have tried what you suggested already. The problem I am having is downloading the zip file back to my phone.
I cannot get from step 2a to 2b as gmail wont let me download a zip file..
I actually use "K-9 Mail".
I just tried in Gmail: Here there is a preview button next to the zip file. When pressing it I can save the file with help of Total Commander.

I gave up on using gmail for housing my backups of AT and are now using Yahoo for this.
Yahoo let's me download the zip file and total commander enables me to zip the file in the first place and unzip it and restore in to th sd card if need be.
Thanks Samuel!

If I am making a backup of my saved files I simply plug my phone into my computer and turn on disk drive mode. Then its a simple drag and drop to my desktop.
