Estimate for 0.6.10 release?

Hi,

Andor's Trail is a wonderful game and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next release.
Would it be possible to give a rough estimate of when it might come out?

I ask because I have a character that I'm holding off leveling up till it's released in anticipation of the skill system, and I can't explore new areas till I level since they're too tough.

Thanks for all the work and care that has gone into the game!

Oskar is working continuously on the new version. This is the current status of the svn:
  • The maps for the new version seem to be ready. (100%)
  • Half of the new maps has been filled with NPCs and monsters. (50%)
  • Half of the quests/conversations for the available NPCs are written. (25%)
  • The droplists are completely missing. (0%)
Perhaps Oscar doesn't plan to release the other half of the maps for 0.6.10. This would mean its almost done. (1-3 weeks)
Otherwise I would assume it could take 1-2 months. (All depends on how many time Oskar (or other contributers) can spend.)

My impression of the new maps is very good. The ugly bridge has been redesigned and there are varied scenes especially in the second part of the maps, that look very nice. The quests are mostly side taking quests.

That's good, since I don't think any of us are in a big rush to find Andor just yet, especially if it meant the end of the game.

Hi there Green..

about you holding off leveling. This will only affect skills like the HP skill where you get hp on level up.
still you will get your skill points even if you are level 100, you wont be missing any skill points.
Just so you know :) so you can level up and you will be getting the correct amount of points :)

Thanks for the advice Nero - I was thinking about taking the HP skills several times though so I won't be able to act on your suggestion after all.

I have my fingers crossed for a release in several weeks rather than several months.
Is there anything I could do to help with development? Or testing? I have no coding experience but am a quick learner.

Hi guys.

For those of you that follow the updates list on the project page, you might have noticed a lot of commits with new content recently. New content, and conversations in particular is BY FAR the most time-consuming task of a release. I would say that 90% of the time is spent between releases is just pure content-making.

The good news is that I am now starting to see the light of the end of the v0.6.10 conversation tunnel. The new quests are, for the most part, done.

However, still left to do before we can go alpha is:
  • Populate droplists for shops. I want to re-do all the shop droplists so that item quality corresponds to the particular vendor.
  • Populate the new "waterway" outdoor maps with monsters
  • Populate the new "pwcave" dungeon with monsters
  • "Smoke-test" on my own device on the subway to work, to make sure there are no game-braking issues left :)
All of this is maybe 1-2 weeks of work, depending on how much time I can find after work and during weekends.

I am really looking forward to bringing this version to you guys in alpha really soon. This version will add a lot of exciting things that I hope you will like!

Oskar,

I for one cannot wait for 0.6.10's release as I am so bored with just leaving that I have not played in weeks. Plus, I have been looking forward to the skill system.

I will still be patiently grinding for more XP, but reading some of the updates that will be included in -0.6.10 definitely has me excited for the update, especially some of the new quests!
