Ahh okay, should watch some games! Maybe it will interest you more. Should I say, "high profile" games.
Soccer has got to be the most boring sport in the world to watch.
We have a new Beta: v0.8.13 ("Troubling Times") !

Re: Sports Discussion Thread
1.) Can't use your hands
2.) Lack of scoring.
3.) Minimal action. Kick the ball to 1 end of the field then kick to the other.
4.) red card, yellow card blah blah blah.

Re: Sports Discussion Thread
1. What is wrong with using no hands?
2. Lack of scoring doesn't mean anything. There is a great amount of defense and offense that goes into soccer games. If you decipher a soccer game, you can see what I mean.
3. Action is always going on on the field. Just because there is no awesome tackles or whatever doesn't mean action isn't going on.
4. Red cards and yellow cards are to be expected. Same with penalties in American footbal.

Re: Sports Discussion Thread
Most boring sports off the top of my head (ranked):
Baseball - 2.5 hours for 25 minutes of actual action? Seriously?
Soccer - I love playing soccer and enjoy the sport immensely but it is extremely boring to watch.
Golf - TV always cuts out most of the boring parts but if you've ever watched the game in person it is d u double l dull.
Honorable mention:
Basketball - while not really boring to watch, the lack of any semblance of standards in ruling makes the game one of the most annoying and frustrating to watch. More missed calls than any other sport.
Conclusion:
While I'm not much of a football fan (don't even have a favorite team let alone know many players by name) I would say that they have stumbled across a sport that is at the least very entertaining to watch. Minimal disconnects and frequent "big plays" coupled with lots of speed, plenty of hard hits, and a degree of finesse make this game enjoyable to watch on TV.

Re: Sports Discussion Thread
for me, it's all about hockey...
teams can win with finesse or force, or a balance of both.
it has constant action with both high & low scoring games.
a penalty shot in overtime?
the most exciting thing in sports!
[in my humble opinion]
people lose teeth, get cut up, maybe a broken nose...
it's back to the locker room to get patched up & keep playing.
i'm not even gonna get into the aspect of fights...

I am no hockey fan by any stretch, but I cannot agree more with this. They only thing close is a walk off homerun in the World Series (baseball) clinching game. (See Joe Carter 1992)nyktos wrote:

Re: Sports Discussion Thread
I am originally from Indiana so I like to keep up with the Colts. I am thoroughly surprised and impressed we have done as well as we have and actually made it to the playoffs. This is actually the first year I didn't participate in any fantasy leagues, just not enough time to dedicate to it anymore.
