I like nyktos's idea, single use and expensive. But what is the point? What do you gain? Health refill and monsters respawned? I suppose its good if you are grinding.

heh, i like the idea of a portable spawn point...
and respawning monsters is also a plus.
not as a necessity, but a fun little luxury for high lv. characters.

how about a mobile trader would appear on use of a high cost "phone" type magic amulet or whatever that must be restocked, and for better equipment you must become an investor, only the better the supply the more it costs to summon the guy. only useable if no monsters on current map ?? and could the stock be random? would probably be a whole lot of code to bring in this type of mechanic into the game. just saying though.

Love the ideas. If the loophole was closed I doubt anyone would ever pitch the tent where monsters could spawn. How long would it take to get full health and remove all effects? Twice as fast as you would with your current level of regeneration? 3x?

sorry, when i re-read this i would have to agree. i'll try to explain what i meant.
you could call a shop NPC to arrive at your current location. big outlay of gold to hire service. even more gold to upgrade available stock.
on thinking more about it probably more for new players that dont have nearly unlimited reserves of bm and the like.
could be more of use if there was limited space in the inventory.

I agree with Tek on about 0% of anything ever, but I don't know that I'm feeling/understanding this one. The newer the player (as you suggest will me more apt to need the service), the less likely they will have the cash to use it. There was a similar idea previously mentioned about traveling salesmen (not at your beck and call) who had a random assortment of goods. I think that may be better, but to incorporate part of your idea, maybe the prices could be reflective of how difficult an item would be for you to obtain at your present location

maybe instead of an actual time-elapsing event, just make it a seperate event, like sleeping in a regular bed is. with, say a 10% chance of being killed in your sleep. maybe a bit higher.

i'm pretty content with the shopping in town thing, but a roving trader would kind of be something you'd expect to see in the "real" world.
plus, it'd be nice to have a trader whose inventory changed; i've gotten everything i want, from the currently available merchants

Who knows maybe in the thousands and thosands of rocks we collect there may be a diamond among them.
