If you have found him and he still doesn't want to talk then you have not completed the portion of the quest that opens his dialog.

Access to the thieves guild does not depend on the new release, but on your progress with the quest or quests connected to the thieves and their guild. I don't remember for sure, but I think several of the quests may be intertwined in Fallhaven. (Besides the three branches of the quest for winning trust in Vilegard.)

Sorry, I either did the same thing that you did and missed it, or I simply don't remember what else he said. Anyone else out there who can help with this?

The response to that is nothing helpful.... Just something like, "I don't meddle in the affairs of silly mortals." Not exact quote, but similar enough.

I talked to him and in gave me the xp as well as took it off of my quest list so I think I'm done with it... I just didn't even know that the dagger was a quest related item. I was simply exploring and stumbled into it.

okkaayyy... so maybe i am completely stupid but:

my quest log says that i have found the first, second and third piece of the kazaul ritual.
and also the first half of the chant.
but the kazaul thing on the bridge still doesn't notice me???

also, i notice that lady black says something about a potion i need? is that the thing that i am missing? where should i be getting it and shouldn't that be reflected somewhere that i need it?

i took the prim route but still tired talking to everyone in BWM. only guy who will still speak to me only sells the restore fatigue potion, so erm... what next?
