Hours 20 and 21: still level 46

Travelling, and it's not easy to combine that with Ratdom. The first hour was just 45 minutes crammed onto a plane — the amulet isn't all that helpful (for me). The second hour I started systematically mapping again, which is the only thing that works for me. Still have a couple of bones to grab.

Stats unchanged

'Ratdom' could have also been named 'The Bonehunter' 😋

What I prefer to call it, I can't type here.

Ratdom requires a different style.of play, but it's also (IMO) the best part of AT, and one of the most-original things I've seen in mobile games.

The storytelling and the maze design are strong, and it's good that you can't just slash your way through (the way I have with everything else up to here).

Thanks! This is my third time through Ratdom, but the first time I've made it this far in permadeath mode. It's a very different experience playing this way (better, I think).

Hour 24: level 47 permadeath

Cooked some more meat and headed out to start the Sullengard quests. First time in Sullengard with a permadeath character — it was deceptively simple dodging and fighting my way down there (compared to my two previous times), but then I got a little careless dealing with snapping turtles, and a snake sneaked up and its bite took me right down to 6 HP, with not enough AP left to swallow an emergency potion. Fortunely my character made it, and the rest has been uneventful so far, but that's the second time I almost lost Epsi.

Current stats: attack 226 59–74 +19×2.0 (2 attacks/round), defence 154/5

Current equipment: Dark Protector, Serpent's Haubeck, Marrowtaint, Greataxe of Shattered Hope, Polished Ring of The Protector ×2, Feline Gloves, Boots of Globetrotter

Bonus stat: left for Sullengard with over 80K gold pieces (without grinding for them) …
… so I won't have to risk my character this early heading by east to fight a very dangerous monster for a certain gem.

Yeah, I've been thinking a lot about making changes to those maps so that it's not so easy to avoid the monsters, but also nerfing them a little bit too.

I think that's a great idea — it would make gameplay more interesting.

Otherwise, there's about a 10-level gap right now where a character is strong enough to have completed the Prim Mine and Ratdom, but not quite strong enough to set out for Sullengard. (I haven't tried the new quests in the beta yet — perhaps they help fill the gap.)
