I have a questions regarding the reward for the roses quest.
What it the sense of the scroll you get when not choosing one of the other two (money/shield)? Can it be used anywhere? At first I thought it might increase the xp you get from monsters but I could not confirm this.

It does exactly as you say: but, save game, take item, study effects, if you don't like it, reload the saved game and choose something else, rinse and repeat until you're happy.

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes that's what I did. I went to kill monsters before and afterwards but could not see any effect on the numbers.

No, it's a one off boost - (I should have read your post more carefully). I always opt for the Shield.
