Cursing blindly, I continue to wade into the darkness. A few red, ape-like creatures block my path. I barely keep from smiling as my new sword carelessly sweeps them apart... in two pieces. The prize from Flagstone is so good that I almost feel guilty for using it to kill such small fry. Almost, that is. There's a certain pleasure in killing something, knowing it has little chance to fight back. Wandering around in the pitch-black darkness, I begin to worry. While the demons are no threat at all, the idea of getting lost forever in the depths of an underground maze holds no appeal to me. Using a trick taught to me by the elders, I leave a trail of loot, mainly meat, behind me to mark my path. Collecting all of it may be annoying, but it would be better than getting lost. Wandering aimlessly and slaughtering red demons, I suddenly find my self at an entrance to a deeper part of the maze. Hesitating for a moment, I sigh before climbing into the depths of the dark, unholy maze...

Dashing through the Iqhan caves, lashing out at everything that fails to get out of my way, I find myself facing a strange, blue robed monstrosity that is an Iqhan priest. Something about this one seems different. He moves with more purpose than the others. And he has ready in his hands a dagger whose sheen puts my own sword to shame. This is going to take a minute...

Blood fountains from a wound in the priest's forehead as I finally get in a good hit. That took longer than expected... I must be getting soft. Wrenching the dagger from the dying priest's grasp, I put away my sword. A strand of hair drifts down onto the dagger's blade. I smile as the hair is cut into half. This dagger has not faced opponents for years, locked up in this stuffy cave of Shadow worshippers. This will wreak havoc when I get back into the outside world. Then, I notice the glares of multitudes of Iqhan priests and chaos beasts at the death of their leader. I groan to myself. Why can't these monsters ever understand that they are beaten? Let's see... Around three hundred monsters stand between me and freedom. This might be a little close.

A fine mist of blood slowly clears around me as the last of the thralls die behind me. Andor, when I find you, you're going to be VERY sorry you put me to the trouble of finding you...

lol, I like the creative use of spoilers

Brilliant stuff Wyrmspawn, some of this should be in the game as lore or something.

If only there where more indoor battles, you could use one of my favourite words 'Defenestrate'.

"What... how..." gargled the monster. "Kid got your tongue, there?" I grin, as I slash out its long slobbering tongue. I shouldn't have payed the guard that much to kill a weak monster like this one. Cthulu, they call it. I wonder why they didn't kill this pathetic creature themselves. It certainly wasn't as tough as anything I'd killed before. I absentmindedly slash off its head with the rapier I found earlier. New strength surges through my veins, invigorating me. I smile at the fond memory of how I found this sword.
Hammer-drunk in the Fallhaven tavern, I barely caught the sounds of a nearby conversation. A conversation involving two lost towns, monsters, a legendary sword, and something about bed and milk. I must have imagined the last part. When I became sober again, I headed to the lost town of Prim and found the labyrinth they spoke of. I stayed inside for forty days, having nothing to eat, sustaining myself only by bloodlust and willpower. Finally, after a long while... A glint of steel appeared amongst the monsters. I stared numbly at it for a moment, confused as to what it was. What was I even doing in that cave? Then, it all came rushing back. A sense of elation and triumph came over me, and tears of joy rushed down my blood-streaked face. This is it. The legendary Rapier of Lifesteal.
As soon as I heard of this sword, I just knew I had to have it. These imps who occasionally wield these are unworthy of such weapons. I must have killed ten thousand of them in that labyrinth. Now, during my travels to the taverns of the land, I had heard of a ring with great power that can be seen worn by creatures named gargoyle trainers. I turn almost unconciously east, and start to make my way to the gargoyle caves...

As I lift my sword to destroy these creatures, I realize they are stronger than I previously imagined. These Allacephs seem to heal with every blow, while I am getting weaker and weaker. I look in my backpack only to find out that I am extremely low on my Bonemeal potions. Maybe I am not yet stronger to fight these creatures. I am in the midst of the cave, and there is really nowhere to run. I know that proceeding ahead will be useless, but going back is equally tough. I know I am failing. I fight till the last of my bonemeal, killing these savages as I go further.
Suddenly two of these Allacephs attack me at once. My body gives up. I hear the distinct thud of my sword falling to the ground, and darkness encloses me. I feel faint and dizzy. I feel their breath as they look down upon me, and I hear a growl of their victory. And then I close my eyes, letting go of my surroundings...

you wish to know my story do you???

well so long as you keep my tankard filled then you shall hear it.
where to start... my childhood? HAH! same as most, i'll wager. small town birth and upbringing. no, my story truly began the day i first noticed the 'influence'.

i awoke same as ever, rising from the bed i felt unusual. i spoke with mikhail and he told me of the main driving force behind my journeys. my brother andor had been missing since the previous day. the folk of my village required so much help that day it seemed to take me forever to even begin to follow andor's trail. the strangest part was that i had an urgent compulsion to speak with every single villager when normally i would just pass them by. my first true trial of combat happened that day. the bugs and rats in the village were of no concern but in the villages suppy cave i faced off against the largest cave rat i had ever seen. the 'presence' seemed most pleased when i had dispached of this foe. spuned on by this feeling i resolved my will and decided to become stronger. it would take more than a few rat scratches to finish me off from now on. it was then that i began my search. there was no sign of him in the supply cave, so i checked the neighbours basement. there i found the first of many cryptic clues that would be my only hope of finding my brother. nothing more than a scrap of paper covered in scribbles and the message 'meet me at lodar's hideaway'

the confusion i felt was outweighed by the curiosity i felt from my 'conscience' and i pressed on. the thief had told me to seek his kin in fallhaven, and so off i went. on the road i encountered small rabid dogs and many more fierce creatures. the dogs were easy to kill and i managed to cut some meat off their hides to get me through in a pinch, or to sell if i needed coin. i found a guard near a cave and he also required help. i did try to. honestly i did. but the creatures in that cave outmatched me greatly. my 'friend' urged me to leave the cave be until later while i vowed i would destroy all of the creatures in that forsaken hole in the ground. grudgingly i pressed on to fallhaven. still bitter about being bested by bugs, i realised that the club and shirt i had brought from home would never do. while checking the shops i noticed the most amazing pendant for sale at the tailors. it was a nice trinket sure enough but the 'influence' wanted it. it wanted it so bad that everything i had spare had to be sold, and collected again twice over with four times as much meat for sale also. finally i had it, the Jewell of Falllhaven sat around my neck, however i felt no different. the truth of it came in my next adventure away from town. i found i could strike much more easily than before. this proved invalualable against the young wolves i had happened upon outside of fall haven...
i need to use the privvy. fill my tankard while im gone so as i might continue uninteruppted.
