I like the reality of this but I tend to agree that this would become annoying.
What if your flagstone's pride breaks?

Ya change things up a lil bit. But this affect would exclude L/E weapons due to an never dull spell that they could have.

Put me down for hating this idea. I've played games in the past that had this and in my opinion it ruined the game for me. Please don't add this, or make it optional. Thanks.

Nothing bad with it, as long as whetstones are easy to find and buy. Only weapons with sharp blades, spearheads and such should have this, blunt weapons don't go bad the same way (using a whetstone on a warhammer? Heh).

Dont think this would bring much to the game. A blacksmith skill to upgrade your weapons and metal armour could add to game play. If your sword became dull surely you would just use a sharpening stone rather than seeing a smith.

Seeing the Smith would be because you broke your weapon not because its dull

Blacksmith,"so, you want a spiked club? I see you haver a club there, would you happen to have a nail about your person? Indeed you do. Stay here a moment..."
Blacksmith disappears into a back room, and you her a moment of hammering
Blacksmith,"there you go, one spiked club"
Blacksmith hands you your club, which now has a nail hammered through it

Lol:D
I'd like to suggest a slight change...
Blacksmith: "There you go, one spiked club. That will be 100 gold".
And if you say you can't afford it...
Blacksmith: "Fine, but I'll have to charge a 25 gold nail removal fee".
